Hello

Firewire eh ! Now thats an extinct technology. I guess close to 2 years ago, there were 2 technologies trying to compete to come into the main stream. One was USB and the other was FireWire. Both promised high speed interconnectivity between appliances and compatibility. FireWire IEE was relegated to video devices mainly because Sony backed it up.

Now doesn't that explain why you have sony cam in your hand

The Firewire card is a rarified piece of equipment. The chances of finding it in India are almost next to none, unless you can catch hold of a company which specifically deals in digital video devices.

Regards,

yea more or less so...except probably for the digi video cams........and sony was very evasive on whether its version of firewire, namely ilink, is truly compatible with the ieee 194 model.....all they say, at the first choice, is to go in for a sony computer !!!!.....

there go my chances of becoming another hitchcock......... i also have usb streaming in it,,but the frame rate drops very rapidly....any idea if it is possible to upgrade the usb to 2.0.....mine's an old pc too... (an hp p3 450........costed a fortune then....now relegated to junk status )........

anyways...regarding my other query,,,i was asking abt a film scanner, a pice of h/w that directly scans ur film negatives into high resolution pics....i was looking for a low level s/w for that that can directly interact with the h/w..something like say how isobuster does for CDs..... any idea????

thanks for the info PG.....

cheers
