well, guys, how helpful is it if i produce fake work ex certificates… fake in the sense that, the CERTIFICATE per se is genuine ie..it’s fiven by the company itself, but i haven’t worked there… I mean, if someone like me has wasted almost a yr and a half in CAT prep without workin anywhere, n then got thru infy…..n lookin forward to CAT 2004(or 2005)…can i take out a certificate from a li’ll known organisation as , say, a programmer, to supplement the infy work ex…. so that i can say that b4 workin at infy, I worked at so n so co….. if they ask me abt any details abt the work, I guess I can say that coz of the work ex at INFY…but will that be HELPFUL?? what say, guys

What will say if the IIMs or other panel asked you 'How come you joined infy as fresher when you have 1.5 years of work ex??'
Plus, lets assume that you crack cat this year. That gives you a decent 2.5 year experience ( 1.5 + 1 year at infy ) Then You will be eligible for Laterals at B skool. And you think they will pay you 6-8 lpa with out digging into your past work ex??? I would say it is too risky.
but any way that is my 2p.

Depends on ur luck. You will probably get away fibbing to Infy, but at the IIMs admit interview, if the panel gets suspicious and decides to delve into ur past, you could end up having a real hard time. You'll be cutting a very sorry figure and risk losing ur chances of admission too. Besides, it's easier to be honest abt it. If you have got into Infy now, work there and leverage that work-ex, dont try to outsmart the panel with some fake certificates. You'll most likely lose. I'll win the crowd. I'll give them something they've never seen before...

Do you want to know how it would benefit a person apart from making that person eligible to be arrested for fraud (which if I am not mistaken is a federal offence) ? Don't steal - The Government hates competition

You think it is worth doing that ???
I Dont' ... There are many Postitives ... will enhance your profile etc ... Will help u w.r.t lateral placements .. (isnt that what every B-school student wants)
BUT what if you cant pull it off ??? ... too dire consequences dude. !!! Change is Permanent ... Growth is Optional !!!

how will u manage that ? | Are you sure about this? Firstly, showing ur salary slip would be a violation of most companies policy - which is not to reveal salary outside (actually it is not even to be told to colleagues - only between u and the manager). Secondly, most companies give work-ex certificates when u leave and this is what proves that you worked for them - not ur salary slip.
Can someone who has had calls from IIMs this year tell us what proof does IIM need of ur work-ex at the interview stage? I'll win the crowd. I'll give them something they've never seen before...

Don't do it....
First, the panel can tell from ur face that u r lying.
then they will ask very very probing questions about ur work ex before infy.
See, even i thought baout the same - i had a gap of about 6 months between graduating n joining infy. i had worked but could not get along well with my bosses, so just left. now i did not even put that down as work ex in my interview forms. i just put down my infy work ex.
so they never asked me anything about this gap, but went on to ask questions from my infy work ex and heave acads ...
just be truthful n honest yaar. no need to fake in front of em. the panel will be comprising ppl who would have 20-30 yrs of experience also - don't even think of faking em.
