Re: pagalguy.com ka revenue model - 28-05-2004, 12:31 AM

boy !!
thats a question that had been killing me since long .. but i cudnt decided ki whether its appropriate to ask PG about it or not!

I also read somewhere that PG has to pay like 200 $pm to pay for the server charges which i guess would increase with the growing number of users and thus the bandwidth demand !

The only source of income i see so far is the google ads on the site .. but my guess is that they aint sufficient to payup for the entire charges

so hey PG dont feel offended bout the question ... i guess its out of plain curiousity that we guys asking about it... i guess many ppl too must we wundering about the same thing !

cheers !

PS: you can choose not to answer the question but please do post on the thread

Oh lord..

What did you think ? .. Yes, I end up paying for all the things you guys end up typing

So .. lets get down to a discussion now. Um.. Lets assume this is a CASE STUDY. How would you folks form a business plan of sustainability and profitability for PG.com .. I would also love to see how everyone here views an Internet business model and to the depths of understanding of what drives a net business.

hei PG this is amazing........thnx a lot for ur effort (i knw this remark has bcom a cliche by now)
how about this as a rev model for PG...
since most of the people here r either for Prep of CAT n other Bschool Exam...
why not start a Preferential Member programme in exchange of minimum sum.the preferential member will get access to say material donated by other members in a common share...since i guess the whole concept of PG is totally non-profiting so we can keep the membership fees really down...
n talkin bout payment mode why dont we select some citywise representatives...who will collect the membership fees...n people away frm those city can mail the draft/cheque to a central address...
(but i guess then there will be a requirement of some auditing n financial management skills..)
all these will depend on the popularity of PG and how wide spread its footprint is..
i think if students/member log into the freezone(no membership required) n see how effective it is to be a member of PG for CAT , they wont think twice before forking say '100 rupees' for an annual fee as they already r forking out thousands in different institues...
another way to collect some chillers can be to have a "DONATE" link so tht people who r passing out of bschools n lapping plum jobs can donate their contributions...to keep their rocking ground alive....

luv
Prithvi...

I'm not really sure about paid contribution as it would fail until we could actually end up providing exclusive content for the paid users and I dont see that happening for now.

Collections , therefore don't look like a top notch idea to me. Would like to hear more people about this

Not sure how effectively we can leverage on this:-One way to provide value for membership fee could be to ways to provide closer interaction between Paid User and the big group of Top BSchool guys here...

sponsered chats...one to one questions...maybe web-conference!

every paid user can select say 3-4 such PGites and then interact personally with him/her...

All the willing PGites can have their profiles which show how dynamically (read regularly) they visit the forum along with their feebacks from previous paid members....

The problem of collection will be a big issue, atleast for college going guys who dont have an online banking account...but we can take care of those stuff later...

any comments ?
