there you go menaina you now officially own sushanth 3000 bucks.....
anyway nice characters in asterix and the naming and the constant cursing by obelix for not being allowed to drink the potion are good....
but the best part in asterix is the ladies right from impedimenta ( vitalstats wife) to the fishmongers wife who keep on harping on every topic on earth!!!

Cycle time does not mean you can take three women and have a baby in 3 months. It still takes nine months.

woah...an asterix fan club!! - 03-03-2005, 06:16 PM

hey guys!
i just loooove reading asterix... and just one doubt to our seniors... do we get to read comics like Tintin and Asterix in the B-school libraries??

i just love the way they twist the origin of certain events around our heros...like for ex:- in "Asterix and Cleopatra", obelix climbs on the spinx and ruptures the nose... and we have the author putting a foot note saying "and that is how the spinx lost itz nose..." all that is soo clever and funny!

any more such "anecdotes" are welcome...

cheers,
Sunny.

I have a fetish for puns and Asterix series are replete with it The names are hilarious..other than the stated ones that comes to my mind offhand is .."Unhygienix" ,"Cacophonix","Getafix","Geriartrix" etc...absolutely hilarious! There is subtle humor and veiled references to persons, incidents, idiosyncrasies of ppl of different nationalities in the novels...though TINTIN is more adventurous in the literal sense and the humor is more situational there ..Asterix winds hands down simply because of the verbal humor! *if* you are a punster you will know what I mean

yes axterix comics are very punny (pun intended)...

its like u took the words outta my mouth man...if u read it right...every word on every liltle dialog is quitr hillarious...

i Love reading asterix
