Me a HUGE Tintin fan as well.

I remember the day in August 1988 when some relatives gifted me and my sister 2 Tintin books - Tintin in Tibet and the Calculus Affair. I fell in love with them immediately and I still treasure the Tintin books that I have.

I have read all the major Tintin books that have been published. BTW, Tintin in the Land Of the Soviets was the first book that Herge wrote and its a collector's item. I don't think too many people in India would have read it.

Here I am !!! Herge is a genius and TINTIN books are just Greaaaaat Did not get a chance to read many titles early on, so I'm desperately catching up !! I've read around 10 titles in the past couple of months My favourite one is the 'Secret of the Unicorn' which was the first one that I bought...

Though reading the earlier titles my strong opinion is that the series started getting exciting only after the entry of Capt Haddock, which I guess happened in "The Crab with the Golden Claw"... The earlier ones were way too predictable and not that funny either..

I love it when a drunken Haddock deals with Calculus ranking a close second would be the Haddock - Abdullah combo Hilarious to say the least !!!

Hiya all,
Was reading the posts and seems we have a big Captain Haddock fan club here. So I got an idea - why not post some of the most hilarious excerpts from Tintin you have come across and go down the memory lane?. Can have a good laugh here then. To start it off, here goes one of the funniest Captain Haddock quotes i have come across. Its from my fav one - "Tintin in Tibet" and occurs when Captain sees the "abominable snowman", the yeti, for the first time :-

Blistering yetis, it's the barnacle!...I mean...Yettering barnacles, it's the blister...up there...I mean...the yeti!!!

Rock on guys

Thanks for trying Simba and Mango ....I also tried editing it...but could not see any options to change the poll. Guess dear Cuthbert will have to wait a while to make an entry

Great idea Fooguy...here is one of my favorite Haddock Quote's:

This is from the Calculus Affair, when he's being pestered by Jolyon Wagg for taking some insurance schemes:

"Yes everything. My life's insured against accidents;against hailstones, rain, floods tidal waves and tornadoes ; against cholera, 'flu, and colds in the head () ; moths, weevils and grasshoppers....The whole lot ! Infact, sir , the only thing I'm not insured against are insurance agents "

Muahahah....I Love Myself

The one scene i always remember from Tintin is in "Destination Moon" where Haddock calls Calculus a Goat ... and Calsy throws a MASSIVE tantrum ending up with losing his memory and then haddock revives him thru accident

alzo Thompson (with a p as in Phildadelphia) and Thomson (without a p as in Venenzuela) ...are terrific characters

cheers
