pardon my ignorance but i was not even aware that IE has released the 8th version. nay ways learnt it here and tried using it my experience:
it has been a mixed experience, i have faced this a lot many times that when i open a page in chrome it opens instantly while ie takes ages to open the same page....
also when i was downloading an email attachment of 6 mbs, chrome failed, in the sence it was able to gather a much lower download speed plus it showed download complete in just 2.5 mbs....
while with IE i was able to achive the download much faster and complete in the first attempt....
as of now i feel FF is the best and it remains my default browser, tough am still experimenting withe the other 2 | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to sarvshwet For This Useful Post:

| I am really not sure how this incognito mode works... I mean i have not seen the code yet... It talks about cookies which is for the client machine... that need not mean Google is not keeping track of the information accessed by incognito mode... If that is the case then everyone will like to use incognito mode... Everyone wants there privacy... I will check this out soon... | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to medulla For This Useful Post: | | | | | |

Unfortunately, after my initial optimism, I am back to FF3...
For one, I can't directly add a bookmark by dragging it to bookmarks like FF... Though the moving the tab anywhere you want by dragging seemed to be a cool feature...
For two - it increased the number of processes on the comp... even if the memory usage is marginally higher, the very fact that the process queue is longer ensures that my system starts hanging every few minutes...
And for the IE8 enthusiasts... I'm not sure about v8, but until v7, all IE versions have proven highly vulnerable to malware... one string enters the system, and the homepage shifts to the malware page. and then keeps bugging you all the time. v6 & v7 were even sadder as they had addon capability but were still insecure. Hope this issue is solved with v8.
Regards,

OK.... Now, I have gone through this page and believe me I felt like "Am I missing something" ? The point: This nerd ((I hope its the right word ) would like to know a few basic things (the way you guys talk, looks like A,B,C of browsing ) like:
What are: Plug-ins, Bookmarks , security issues (Should I be worried about my privacy and WHY?) and also if any of these can make my life at PG easier.... P.S. Recently came across an old thread where UrMAD had made a plugin in IE for PG. Can this be done for Chrome as well ???

One major drawback in Chrome that one of my friends highlighted. When you save your passwords in Chrome, and then go back to the option and click "Show saved passwords", it shows all the passwords in plain text This is so plain ridiculous!! If anyone else borrows my lappie for a minute, he can figure out my mail passwords etc....
Anyone else noticed it?? | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to avinav2712 For This Useful Post:

Recently came across an old thread where UrMAD had made a plugin in IE for PG. Can this be done for Chrome as well ??? | Plugins: They're small tools which we can incorporate in our browsers for any specific task. Like in FF3, I had a plugin (referred as addons in FF) named DownThemAll, which was basically a download manager and I could keep track of my downloads better using this rather than the conventional download window.
Another plugin I had was Fast Dial, which is basically what Chrome shows in a new tab, list of all your favourite websites. Only difference was, Chrome automatically chooses them based on the frequency with which we visit them and in FF, I had to specify them explicitly. Bookmarks: When you really like a webpage, you've two options: save it to your disk, or save the web address. First one is simple but you won't be getting the updated page each time you visit it. So for that, you need to use the 2nd option. Thus, you save the page as bookmark. Next time, you don't have to remember the URL of the page, just click on the bookmark, and you'll get to that page. Security Issues: There are many sites which have constant popups every minute or so. Many of these popups contain malicious codes and when you accidentally click it (or sometimes even when you don't) it can creep in your disc and cause some trouble. The trouble may not be instantaneous and you may take a long time to figure out that your system's actually been attacked.
So nowadays, most of the browsers like FF, Chrome etc come with automatic popup blockers. Only you can mention which popups to trust. Others are taken to be "untrusted". Thus, you remain reasonably secure in that way.
Privacy means that you don't wish anyone else to know about your browsing history and that whenever you logoff, all cookies (which contain browsing information) should be cleared.
It could also mean that you wish to be immune to phishing. Phishing is a process by which attackers duplicate a website and present the site to you and ask for your password. Once you do, you're redirected to the original site but your password is captured, which could prove to be hell!!! Very common targets are websites of banks such as ICICI etc.
Hope this helps. This is all based on my knowledge and I'm happy to be corrected | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to avinav2712 For This Useful Post:
