IPL seems to be gaining popularity. Some people initially felt that the biggest hurdle in the success of IPL will be lack of personal interest in support of teams - except in cases when they represent your city. However, people have seen some rocking performances already. Probably, the teams that entertain people will get fans who will continue to support that team.
One interesting thing that I have noted is that the biggest entertainers till now have been foreign cricketers. In the first match, it was Brendon McCullum who scored 117 from 57. In the second match it was Michael Hussey made 114 and entertained a lot. In third match there was no extra ordinary performance but gambhir made a good 58. In fourth match David Hussey impressed the people in the end. In the fifth match, it was Mark Boucher who finished unbeaten on 39 from 19 balls and grabbed the Man-of-the-Match award. So you see the top performers till now have mostly been foreigners.
I know its just the beginning of the series and there will be lots of gr8 performances. Unlike vs india matches, now, if i see some foreign cricketer playing well, i start enjoying his game. the thought of him not being an indian doesnt come to my mind. so if some of these foreign cricketers manage to give couple of rocking performances, i am sure ill become their fan. and this, i believe, can be the story with many other indians too.
If this scenario arises, they might get a number of endrosements. not sure if this will be a competition to indian cricketers ( apne to apne hote hain ... ) but still they do have a chance to earn good amount of money beyond IPL too. and if this happens ( yes i know too many suppositions

), even more cricketers might be interested in ipl or to be more precise india. so we might see many more of them playing in india.
