Aradhana (credits showed SD Burman) | Do u mean to say Aradhana songs were not composed by SDB? What basis for such a belief?

-Ted. | I heard it in one of Asha Bhosale's interviews...that SDB was not keeping to well those days...Aradhana was one of his last movies. And hence a few(not all) songs of Aradhna have been composed by RD...most notably Mere sapno ke rani(RD on the mouth organ again ) and Roop Tera Mastana
If you listen to these two songs, I guess you would be able to make out the distinct RD touch they have, and also how different they are from other songs on the album like Kora Kagaz and Aradhna

If you listen to these two songs, I guess you would be able to make out the distinct RD touch they have | Specifically, tht sax piece just after "bhool koi humse na ho jaaye...", tht is ossum, to say the least...

RDB did not *compose* the two songs u mention, he had a big hand in the orchestration. He was the primary assistant for SDB in this film.
And did u know that this is not at all unusual for SDB? He frequently composed tunes for songs and left much of the orchestration/arrangement to his assistants. That's why there have been lots of (unfounded) allegations that SDB compositions were really those of Jaidev, RDB, his wife Meera, Basu-Manohari, the paanwala who SDB frequented etc.
And about 'roop tera mastana', this is not the only story prevalent abt it. Kishore fans say it was he who really first sang it in the sensuous way which was finally approved by SDB. SDB fans say this is rubbish, that SDB definitely composed the song and in fact, relate a story abt it. They say when SDB was not finding his tune particularly good, he stopped the boy who had just brought tea to the studio and played the tune to him. When he liked it, SDB felt it was good enough (i.e. any layperson wud probably like it).

Something I live for...... RD Burman "The Lord" Its time to wake a thread about the genius. Undisputedly the best composer ever in Hindi Film Music. Despite the commercial constraints imposed by producers, he managed to come up with such awesome tunes each time. The fact that most of the REMIXES today are originally RD Gems is a testimony to the fact that RD was ahead of his times. A mind-blowing combination of melody and rhythm. Some of my fav numbers in no particular order that I remember right now:
Katra Katra Milte Hain
Nadiya Se Dariya
Tujhse Naraaz Nahi Zindagi
Diye Jalte Hain
O Mere Sona Re
and lots more..............
So how many people here worship the Lord?

I think that he had the perfect knowledge of western n the indian music. So he utilised it to the optimum n gave us the timeless numbers.
My fav. song is " Mehbooba O Mehbooba" Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
