How do you do time pass on net?

Hi, I am planning to start a website where people can have a good time pass. How do you'll do / would like to do time pass on net? What kind of features would you like to see on the site? For example, I'll be adding hand picked flash games, a forum where you can discuss various topics including bollywood, latest trendes, cricket, play games ( much better than those that you commonly find on orkut ).

Since its meant for you'll, I would like to know what ull want and like. Suggestions for some interesting games are also welcome.

First of all , it should be a place to hang out with friends meaning ..

*Chatting: I find orkut's scrapbook a bit slow - maybe real time chat window embedded into the browser (like gmail has?) (I'm not a web developer so i'm not sure of the technical feasibility of all this - just bouncing ideas)

*If you are adding hand picked flash games , i'd suggest adding some multiplayer games which you can play with your friends.
*Regarding games , emulating a xbox type achievement system ,where you get achivement points for completing something in your game, will encourage more time to be spent on games(i.e One point for finishing all levels in N the ninja game with 20 seconds to spare)

*Forum should be not appear to be tacked on i.e High quality stuff

My POVs: You are playing into a domain which is already very crowded - Be it social networking (Orkut, FaceBook, Big Adda etc etc) or Gaming (Zapak, Indiatimes etc) or Public Forums
So, you gotta have the "zing thing" in your website to attract hits.

I can add a real time chat window in the browser. Ill do that. Because of budget constraints, I cant add multi player games right now. Ill be adding single player time pass games.

i think u shud pick one very specific area nd dedicate ur site for that...like pagalguy 4 mba, cricinfo.com for cricket, orkut for social networking, shaadi.com for marraiges etc.. because most of times presenting too much but in less detailed manner leads to nowhere... i believe u shud first exactly identify which section of users u wanna target.. then build ur site accordingly keeping in mind what are edges of ur site to others in same domain
although its just my opinion...

I offer a counter opinion - these days the term 'convergence' seems to be the byline .. You see your video games acting as blue ray players , your cell phones acting as music players. If letsBfunky can offer me everything at one place - that's easy and convenient. Of course , the advantage with what you say is that we do not load too many things onto the plate at one go , but i'm guessing coolguyabhi will be doing this in a incremental fashion anyway.

Oh i'd suggest a uncluttered main home page. The logo would look great on a white page with no too much crowding. (ala Google style) ..

After seeing the replies on PG, I started thinking again from scratch. This is the basic idea that I have come up with :

This site will b targeted towards youth of India. I want to create a place where people can share their views, knowledge, experiences, etc.. This will include various things like current affairs, technology, sports, bollywood, fashion, etc .. One very imp. thing that I want to focus on is product reviws by the users themselves. In short, its VOICE OF YOUTH ( People ). So there will be two main sections of my site - one will be the forum where all the discussions can take place. The second will be a zone which I am planning to call as "My Column" or "Pinboard" or something similar. This is nothing but a strip down version of blog which people can use to write about anything. Publishing in this section will be through a word like editor - i mean v easy.

However, just as the name suggests, its not going to be a serious place. I liked the idea of RDB - the movie addressed a serious issue but the presentation was cool so that youngsters like it. and then the issue was integrated with the cool presentation extremely well. This is what ill be doing. in my forum, initially there will be a lot of time pass stuff - IPL ( I plan to encourage people to talk abt IPL on my site thru forums n pinboard ), Bollywood, topics like funniest wish, secret fear, what girls like/dislike abt boys etc.. I might give some prizes too. When people start coming again and again, ill start encouraging them for the actual areas like reviews ( ill start with movie reviews ).

There are some more things in my mind : ill allow people to post without registration (atleast initially), site will be moderated like pagalguy so that adulthood doesnt spread. also thinking of disabling avtaars since people use objectionable images. i want the site to be clean. Also I can embed a chat window next to the forum. In certain forums like IPL, I can show related videos in youtube. Also a few time pass single player games can b added in a seprate section ( cant add double player games at the moment )

second ur opinion bond ...........abhi i think u shud b very clear abt ur target group........it helps a lot........ i started my entrepreneurship with 1 such site in which i tried to include every possible... YOUTH STUFF..........needless 2 say my venture BOMBED .............
Also from my experience i wud recommend u 2 minimise the no. of variables in each and every aspect of ur venture.........
For Eg: suppose there are 5 variables x1,x2,x3,x4,x5
now they work in the fashion as explained beloww.....
x1 * x2 * x3 * x4 *x5===Final Output.........
now....suppose if these r nt variables ..... but they r humans like u n me.......and if 3 of them work wid an efficiency of 100% and 2 of them work wid an efficiency of 75% ......... the total efficiency of the entire chain comes out to be 56.25% .......the 3 guyz (100% efficiency guyz)............... expect an output analogous 2 their input(cozzz they have been just perfect with their efforts , shown maximun efficiency)..............and when they get just half the output , discontentment arises......and thenn the whole venture starts 2 suffer.......
SIMILARLY.......when u start a venture.... if u try 2 cater to each n every YOUTH STUFF........the site on whole...... the venture as a wholesome entity wud suffer (tht is ofcoz unlesss u r able 2 maintain every variable working at 100% efficiency)....................
