Hi PGites,
Well India goes to poll today( atleast a part of it) & I find it strange that a vibrant community like ours is totally unconcerned with it. I think apathy of Indian youth is one reason why 80year olds are running this country today.
But I'm sure there will be many among us who will like to see that changed.
Anyway this topic is for discussion on this specific event General Elections 2004.
Who do you think will form the next govt. in India. Vajpayee or Sonia?
Or will Mulayam sweep the UP polls ?
& whether Modi's saffornisation of Gujarat will continue to fetch returns.
So guys cmmon with ur opinions.

Well, voting lists r real mess & EC is more worried about surrogate advertising.
Neways, but do u ppl feel that it will be as easy for Vajpayee & Co. as opinion polls are making it out to be.
My call is that it will be more closer. but since bjp will be largest single party & most probably will get the first shot at making govt. probably horse trading will rule roost again.
But 4 states that will decide this election are Up, MP , Gujarat & Orissa. NDA seems to be getting 110+ of about 170 seats in these states ( Mp + Chattisgarh) & Congress on around 15. If Congress can change this then NDA is in for some real trouble.
But that's my call. "If you aim for the moon, make sure you reach there. For even if you land up among stars, you have not reached where you set out for."

Hi Folks,
My pick on first phase of polling & i know am sticking my neck out.
NDA = 79
INC+ = 56
Rest = 5
It's closer than what many had suggsted & exit polls reinforce this view.

well those who couldnt vote well partly its the red tapism and sluggishness of the authorities but partly its also your own fault . doesnt the EC come out with a prowinsial list about 40-45 days in advance . couldnt u guys check for names in it . would it be wise to leave this for d- day ?

copy pasted my posts from other locked election treads Quote:
i doubt if naidu will get the top post anytime in his lifetime . where will he get the mandate from . afaik , given the situation in andhra he has to pull out a miracle to get him the cm's seat whih seems distant from him. people from bang, hyd and mumbai may vote for him what about the rest? | Quote:
i am from maharashtra so i am analysing its asssembly.
last time ncp was formed just before the elections and the votes were divided between congress and ncp . in factif one counts their vote share , it was well over 50 % . still due to fracture of votes they got less seats and had to inevitibly form a government with a wafer thin majority. this time a seat sharing arrangement is worked out so maybe the congess will do well but there is also a anti incumbency wave against the df government so maybe the saffron alliance have a chance
