oops - 20-04-2004, 01:20 PM

ooops faux pas abt the left of mid i guess it'll be a toss up b/n pires and giggs...... depends on who i can buy hmmm BTW abt zizu if i said "lost his touch" its sacrilege but i still maintain that he's too old for me to look at in centre of mid wen guys like aimar and ronaldinho exist..... same goes for shearer ( i personally think he's englands best bet for euro 2004) prob the best header but too old again...

True, but RvN did not play the qualifiers (cruciate ligament torn)...and Kluivert in my opinion is the WORST striker in the world today...he gets into excellent positions and still converts maybe 1 out of 25 chances that come his way..... the problem in my opinion is that he thinks he's a van Basten.....will not settle for anything less than a "spectacular" goal and therefore misses out on sitters....

Err.....Pires and Giggs? What about Costa mate? And how old is too old? Shearer is still "Da Man!!!!" And Zidane is a sorcorer. I mean, this isn't about who will play for you 10 years later....who would you pick to play a match for your life tomorrow? Given that, I really doubt you can leave Shearer and Zidane outta the team, can you?

Mike

Re: Football Dream Team (All-Time) - 24-04-2004, 02:15 AM

this is just the list of players currently playin....so no Marco van Basten.....sorry man....

1. Ronaldo(didnt get the fifa player of the year for nothin...how many times...2 or 3??)
2. Thiery Henry ( no matter how much i despise arsenal....this man is genius)
3. Zinadine Zidane ( how many times FIFA player of the year.....in the modern era i have not seen anyone have so much ball control.... sure ppl might not agree on this one but he is the magician with the football!!)
4. Aimar - freaky!!!
5. Beckham ( no matter how much ppl hatre him ...for his wife or his affairs or just coz......well not really sire as to why ppl don't like him....his passing ability is legendary...something that even ronaldo has come to admire.....Ruud van Nistleroy recently said that he missed the passing ability of a player of the class of becks)
6. ryan giggs/paul scholes/clarence sedorf i guess age would not be in favour of the giggs but still a tough choice!!!!
7. lillian thuram - no one mentioned the frenchman....he is still playin rite????
8. rio ferdinand - maybe i watch more of english league than the others!!!!
9. roberto carlos - more attacking.....though wouldnt wanna be on the other sides of one of his thundering strikes!!!!
10. wright phillips - this guy is quick...and very deceptive - more of a personal choice i guess!!!
11. tim howard was doing really well.....though of late not in the best of forms!!
maybe casillas.....or till a few years ago would have still gone for Peter Schmichel!!!!

names that i missed out on.....shearer(Mr Premiership)(probably the age factor...not playin for england as well!!!)
bergkamp(the flying dutchman...still has a few tricks up his sleeve....though AGE)
Luis Figo....at one time not so long ago the highest paid footballer!
alessandro del piero.....never played at his best for his country...but was great for juventus...with zuzu....
vieri......dunno y he does not make it thru

well i guess i do mostly watch the english premier league...so have a lot of ppl from the EPL....

this is just my opinion.....maye im right maybe im wrong....dont take it too personally that i didnt include MvB.....

Keep Gerrard instead of Beckham ;-)

Errr.....Howard???? D00d, he's not even in the USA football team, not the current ManU first choice either....what're u thinking of? ;-) Look at the Serie A for the goalie m8! And no Maldini nor Nesta in defence?????? Hullo!!!!! Football is about defence as much as scoring d00d!!!!! No Nedved, no Costa...hmm....I really think u need to start watching Serie A and La Liga more thoroughly

And yeah, Swodfish, no RvN and no Raul means D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R!!!!! Who's gonna score for you maan????? Agree with Anil cent per cent on that 1 and the one about Gerrard...:twi sted:

Cheers!
