6 hrs copyright free content for PG Radio? - 18-02-2008, 08:00 PM

Hey guys,

Deepu had started a thread last week on PG radio on behalf of PG HQ and the response has been great. So, we are thinking of taking it to the next level For thoughts exchanged before kindly go here - http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/chit-c...-pg-radio.html (PG Radio)

I went back to and talked to the people who are helping us on the technology angle and they said we should try to put together around 6 hrs of content the community would relate to and that could be looped for the entire day.

We are going to start the process of getting some paper work done and get the technical work done in the background. Meanwhile lets get some content together.

I was wondering if we could work as a group to get 6 hrs of professional stuff (meaning content entire PG would listen and appreciate) that could be played on the website. I am looking to get the following done:

a. Bunch of people who are enthu :-) and have time to put some effort to make some content
b. List of content people would like to listen to. The problem at hand is we cannot play general bollywood soon. It would be infringing copyright issues. We could like to stay away from it and I feel as a community if its our radio , we should have our stuff . Aren't we insanely different after all?

Looking for some cool volunteers and thoughts so that we can get 6 hrs of solid programmed content ...

What do you think could be content? Some topics I can think for internet radio ...

- News this week (General News)
- PG News
- Talks in the Blogosphere
- Indie Music (we will have to see how we can source that)
- General Chit Chat
- Interviews
- Alumni Chat
- Podcasts that are of key interest for the people on the site (we on behalf of Pagalguy will mail them and get them to okay for it)

List of Volunteers [we need a name ] as of now: (we need to garner 6 to 8 atleast!)

count me in for content handling and production of material...

Count me too...
6 hours of content is not going to be a easy job.. not by any stretch of imagination.. But I think we can pull it off if we really go for it. But I think starting off with one or two hours would be much more practical. And yes this idea can be further collaborated with the idea of "PG Local Chapters" mooted some time ago.. Dedicated slots to local chapters from cities across India - Just like doordarshan accommodates slots for the regional channels

So lets see how it goes

I agree .. I kept 6 and it will be real challenge. It will make us think more and not And six hours is a good amount to loop for a week. The PG Local Chapters is good .. nope GREAT idea.

And thoughts on how we could collaborate and get a good quality product out?

Please count me in too! I can volunteer to write content as well as do some voiceovers in Hindi/English (if needed).

In addition to the content suggested so far, we can probably have narrated versions of prep threads. As in, short training "modules" like they have on FM 105.6. I don't know if I'm talking through my hat here, but as a person from the training and KPO industry, this is the first thought that strikes my mind.

Re: 6 hrs copyright free content for PG Radio? - 19-02-2008, 06:27 PM

Came across this link on How To - after some searching on the web. Came across these interesting links for sourcing Open Content - I think this can be used for making some content. But Time needs to be spent so that we get good quality out of it ...
  • Creative Commons website features an extensive cross-media search that can be whittled down to a particular medium. This is a great way of finding audio content for your broadcasts
  • Internet Archive has a huge collection of public domain and Creative Commons licensed audio, including the excellent Net Labels, which features hordes of albums from virtual record labels
  • Legal Torrents has a great selection of music that you can download legally and use in your broadcasts
  • Musopen provides public domain classical recordings provided by volunteers
  • CCMixter is a creative commons remix community, and has hundreds of remixable music works for you to make use of
  • The Freesound project is an excellent source of Creative Commons licensed sound effects, should you wish to use some in your broadcast
  • Common Content is a great source of Creative Commons licensed media, including an extensive audio section
Any more digging around people? :2gunfire:
