Well we can lots of stuff on it... other music, dean interview and alll...

We can hav a MFAD like QQAD i.e. Maths Funda a Day.

We can have Mods discussing some tips and tricks.

We can a sections where we have the Audio version of Shout BOX.

We can a section to discuss various B-schools a day


and many more.... m in for RJing ... ppl say i hav a sexy voice....

also the juice of threads will b delivered as PG news
we can have a rumor time also..where what all is going on as rumors PG.

we will have SB hits n other specially PG jokes also being aired.

interviews can b weekend affairs.

PG user interviews shd b coming up randomly.

during CAT season we can have stress busters..

already PG forum is full of gyaan...so we shd spare this with quants/di/verbal if possible...n let it for relaxation..

n obviously SONGS

m game for RJ part in the night as mostly m hyper active at that time :vamp:

1. As far as the shows go.. Make all of them once a week..Assign interested people to each show... Let them host live through audio feeds or lt them record it and send it over....Someone who is on PG all the time can do something on PG news...

2. Yes, there are licensing required to broadcast music over the net... Unless we do it illegally.... We need to get a PPL... Public Performance Licence and this covers all songs apart from TSeries and Yash Raj film songs.... However the tariff is subjective and we can pleade for the tariff to be very very low as well... coming back to step-1. here is a consolidated list of content that puys will be interested in(going by the last few posts)

1) gyan from guys who aced CAT,XAT et al...
2) music of all genre
3) Interviews by BSchool deans,directors etc(audio versions of those on PG portal)
4) A show discussing crazy posts on PG (may be on a weekly basis)
5) Spoofs of current affairs
6) Daily poor jokes, sun sign prognosis, sher-o-shayari
7) news (general,bschool,political,sports)
covering bschool fests

now the issue is how do we generate content for all these ? and is there enough content to cover 24*7.

we can have all the music. so it wont be a problem but i have no idea on copyright issues. do we have to take a separate license for airing music on online radio ?

interviews by bschool deans, directors etc won't be a problem i guess. we have PG news posting the same on portal. we can ask them to generate audio versions also. And then how many shows can we generate ? apurv should tell more about this.

how to cover B school fests. what exactly in these fests should we cover ? who will take the responsibility ? same issues are there for daily poor jokes, sun-sign prognosis etc etc..

I think this is a SUPER idea and all the contributions from Puy's so far have been great. Now my 20 cents.

We don't have to go 24*7 live straight away. We can start from 2-3 Hours a day, depending on what are peak hours and weather people use headphones at work or prefer speakers at home

about content idea we have quite many to start of with. However we can hav pg radios first reality show where people are allowed to give ideas of there own programs audition for it. they will have to scrip few entire episodes for example etc etc. They can be asked q's by other users and akin to any other reality show our own junta will decide which users idea is worth having a show by voting. Just like we select everything else on forum.

That will a ) give us whole load of show ideas b ) a lot of air time being covered right at start

About events being covered, we can feature college festivals.

Just a thought here.

We know of software that converts text to audio speech. Will our work get infinitely easier if we feed text into it everyday and it does the audio generation? Is there an advanced software where speech and diction are evolved?

In that case, we could bundle that software as a PG app for Desktop and Mobile and cut down on streaming and transfer issues because all that needs to be transferred is an encrypted text file. That way, this can also work on Mobiles with GPRS connections where download sizes and speeds are an issue.

Hey Puys,

That was a thunderous response :-)

I have recently joined PG HQ and trying to inspire new things for Pagalguy. Was having a chat with Deepu about having a internet radio station that our community would have.

I went ahead and had a chat with some of my friends who are techies. Technical feasibility is easy and financially Pagalguy is willing to take see as a experiment where it will go.

The next challenge is content as others have already pointed. But lets take it in small steps. My Suggestions lets get together around 3 hrs of content!

Let it be a mix so that we can loop it around. If anyone is good or has an experience in RJing he can patch it for us and we can see what the response is?

My suggestions would be:
1. 1.5 hrs of Independent Music (lets try and not infringe Copyright :-) )
2. PG News from Offline Meets
3. PG Debate? Record your thoughts and mail us?

BTW: this is my first POST!! :bday: Registered a year back!!

have you guys discussed podcast? wouldnt it be easier to do that? i mean i used to download podcasts on my cell using gprs. also, that way people can subscribe to whatever they want.

i dont think content will ever be a problem for PG. You guys could have music on a daily basis with slots for news and events. weekends could be specials with alumni, industry people, professors,etc.
