What if the paper comes with such a pattern where they have put some questions in a box, say a set of questions following one RC in a box with instructions given like one's answer would be evaluated only if the answer to the previous question is correct otherwise won't!
Suppose in a set of 5 questions 1 st question one attempts gets wrong then 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th answers won't be evaluated.
And if this don't suffice then 1st question is the one with the least marks and the following questions with higher weightage.!!

May Sanity prevails!!

I know it wasn't the case here but still........

Must say, some absolutely fantastic patterns!!....Im sure eve the paper setters would be shocked at the innovation of some people here..JLT bhai...tht bonus questions pattern was a killer, LOL, but chances of all this happening, not too bright i guess, or rather i hope

My take on the pattern( considering the surprises in the CAT are never really shocks, they are small variations, just the magnitude of the test is such that they become huge)
Total questions 90
3 sections-the usual
30 qs per section
Variable marking-10 ques 2 marks, 20 questions 4 marks per section
Total marks per section=100
5 options, 1/4th -ve marking.
Moderate quant and DI, cutoff around 30
Tough VA cutoff around 25
Overall cutoff around 105-110

Simple, boring i know, but this is the one i expect.

Good luck puys. May this day be remembered as the day we made it in our lives forever!!

With CAT-08 approaching..........could not resist myself visiting this thread.......,& read each & every post AGAIN.....what a fun time it was.....And in retrospection I did find that some people were bang on their pattern ,especially JLT bhai.........75 Q format ....QA- tough,DI--calcuation based.....& 4 rcs in VA with no FIJ.......sometimes I doubt ki kya JLT ko paper pata tha............
Whether last year ot this year the bottomline remains the same.....iims always want to keep things simple...always giving old wine in new bottle.....so more often than not it is the nerves of a well-prepared student which decide the final result....the ones who would deem paper as sacrosanct may have to bite the dust, but the ones who just mock it off would soar high.....

p.s. -- My guess on cat-2008

20/25 question per section(+5/-2 or +4/-2)
QA-- moderate
DI--- tough
VA -- moderate

pps. Keeping a particular format close to ur heart can be dangerous for ur mind on d-day.
