Webmasters' corner - 10-08-2007, 08:40 PM

It's strange to see that this forum dont have a webmaster related thread.
So I thought to start one

I welcome all webmasters, wanna-be-webmasters and those who are just curious about this thread

The purpose of this thread is to make a common space for all those geeks out there: to share their expertise, solve other "brothers" queries regarding related topic. such as SEO link exchange...

in all anything and everything related to web design and web hosting and its marketing.
web 2.0 is growing like weeds and its tempting to jump in. It's about time Indian crowd (read Pagalguy forums ) should have some quality discussion Let's share our knowledge, discuss the problems, tricks & tips and help each other out.

For the uninitiated: webmasters are those who design, develop (and publish /own) a website who further look forward to their baby's (that is their website's) growth in content base as well as in its reach (listed top in google )

PS: I've started this thread, doesnt mean that I'm one of the webmasters... or I have these "geeky-expertise" on this field.... I am just another wanna-be-webmaster, who doesn't even have his own website.
I'm just a thread-starter

But I do dig a lot about all these things...I'm not a geek
btw

PSS: Rate this thread & check out the tags I've added

sure thingie,
this thread has great potential and there are tons of new things sprouting on web 2.0 everyday! And we definitely have a lot to talk about here....
but not to set some expectations just now (telling this to myself) since its a weekend and most of the junta wont be checking forums for next couple of days....

To start some topic: I am just curious to know more about this fellowship you have got!

First of all congrats,
Pagalguy, would you tell us what kind of research you're going to perform in coming year?
I presumed it 's something related to web 2.0...
there are great amount of products such as technorati, bloglines, digg etc they do use emerging technology right?
(correct me if I am wrong> is it something on related to this (& this thread) you're going to perform in your research ( studying/analyzing) ?

PS: thats pretty fast reply... & was expecting some response from you

Re: Webmasters' corner - 11-08-2007, 10:16 PM

hey! i love this idea...wouldn't mind subscribing to this thread so, where do i sign-up ?
i used to be a web admin, till sometime back. Had loads and loads of implementation fun - CMS, phpBB, wordpress and some other shady shite support forums are just awesome for n00bs, aren't they? btw, there used to be this user called 64BitWhore, dunno if she/he is still around; i rem seeing some posts on vBulletin (or something else) hacks, by him/her. seemed to knew a fair bit about this sorta stuff.

Anyway, hope some users still stick around to visit chit-chat these days, looks remarkably quiet

cheers

Lets start discussing, shall we? :-)

I'm looking for decent rails hosting. Data transfer limits and storage space are important but reliability and quick support is more critical.

Got any pointers ?

cheers

I've got a domain name registered on webcomindia and now am trying to host pages on Google. Any idea how i can do this?

Not sure about this but looks like i'm going to have to buy hosting just to be able to do this. Somebody want to confirm this for me? Please

For the above mentioned site, I also want to create a log-in page. i'm going to need SQL arent i??

Lotsa questions na

@Neo: You will have to buy hosting plan anyways... you can t get away without it, right?
Also once you are done with that Please tell us about your experience with Google as its a new guy in the market
which software application you use for web page design?
I think it'll depend on that whether you'll need SQL etc...

All right now I have some doubts...

dear all webmasters,
Is there anyway to find out "when the last time a certain page updated"?
