Re: Computer queries - 08-06-2007, 11:40 PM

hey guys...just wanted to share my experience..i have this computer with me for about 4 years now...and yea..it works really fine still..some days ago i got it a little f****** up.. i did something with the partition magic software and holla two of my hard disk partitions were gone..absolutely gone..i mean 150 gb of data gone..so wat will most of you do if something like this happens to you..(find a wall to bang ur head)..i did the same things..then i thought of using the so called 'data recovery ' softwares

Now the story starts. You can find so many softwars which promise to recover your data and bring it to orginal condition. frankly speakin.. i had no faith in them until this moment when one of these softwares helped me to recover 150 gb of data..it was this 2 mb software called 'Active partition recovery' and it did the perfect job.. to my surprize..my hard disk was back to normal condition. I would sincerely recommend this software to anyone and everyoen who is havin such problem and even if you don't have one...download it soon coz u never know when it's gonna hit you..
cheers

p.s. this is my first post on this forum.don't know much abt the rules of this 'highly regarded and appreciated forum'..if i was neway off the mark pls feel free to correct me.

Thanks in advance.

For Opera

Quote:
Lost bookmarks

If your bookmarks are suddenly gone when starting Opera, you can try getting them back by importing them. Open File > Import > Opera bookmarks and browse your way to your Opera install directory. Select the file "Opera6.adr" and click "Open". If you do not know where Opera is installed on your machine, you can find out from Help > About Opera.

If this does not appear to work, please open "Opera6.adr" in a text editor and look at the contents.

If the file or the contents of the file is missing, you may not be able to restore your bookmarks. This shouldn't normally happen, but could potentially happen during a crash/hard disk crash.

It is wise to take backups regularly.

Opera 5 and older:

In Opera 5, you can try to open the Hotlist:

Open the Hotlist (press the F4 key to toggle the Hotlist on/off)
Under the "Bookmarks" tab, click the "Menu" button and select "File", then "Open"
Browse your way to your Opera install directory
Select the file "Opera5.adr" and click "Open"

The bookmarks file is now read by Opera and your bookmarks should appear if the bookmarks file is complete.

For Mozilla/Firefox

Mozilla / Firefox - Recover Bookmarks

if u are asking me does it read that card of urs, the answer is yes.
there are 5 slots in my reader for various sizes of data card.

but i guess ur initial question was where to find it in Hyd.
if u have found the shop, the guy there should show u various types. u can check for urself the compatability.

shailesh,

i am having the same problem too.
what i've been told by ppl is that, when the power fails, it takes a small fraction of time before the UPS is able to kick start.
this gap is no problem for the CPU, but for the modem its not.
thus it gets disconnected and you need to restart it.
im not sure if other modems, like the ones of AIRTEL or TATA has the same problem
