External DVD writer... -

Hey, even i was going to ask about an external dvdwriter..... what is the avg price of an external dvdwriter and is it company manufactured as an external or is it an internal dvd writer which is then boxed..... like what can be done with a ide hdd.....
the reason i am asking is that the boxed type devices tend to be unstable and give lots of errors, keep shutting down and all..... atleast i had that prob in my external boxed hdd..

an iomega external DVD writer would cost you around 14K...other brands would be a bit cheaper...
external DVD writers come as company manufactured as well as in the form of casing for internal writers...the casing would cost you around 2000 bucks but is not very reliable.. (the problems have already been mentioned by you)

Jeez, neva thought it would be so exp.... 14k for iomega means not less than 10k for the others... so.. will wait it out.... btw also wanted info on a regular internal dvd writer... which is the best in the market and app cost... ??

you would be able to get samsung and LG internal drives for a bit less than 4500/-
dont know abt the best but samsung sells the most and i also recommend it coz i've used it...its reliable..

4500?? that's too steep dude...... i recently purchased a Samsung DVD writer for Rs. 1700/- only.
Btw, how does an external DVD writer work?? Don't u require an ide for that? Do DVD writers also come with a USB support?

Other than that, you'll have to do a lot of roaming of all Tech Malls to know current pricing as well pricing for games. Havent really seen a lot of these in India so really cant say much.
Unless you know someone comin down fm the US sometime pretty soon.

Rediff certainly is selling it at a very steep price.. The one i purchased is Samsung DVD RAM dual layer 16x available for Rs. 1700/-
