Also change the number of simultaneous downloads. See, if u can achieve something by tinkering the settings... If u can't then, better re-install.
Regd the other query, it is possible that the file might be corrupt. However, try to copy-paste the file from the download folder i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Ares\My Shared Folder
and run it using some other player. Try to download "media player classic" and run the file through that. It is better than all the other players and uses the least amount of RAM/CPU. If u still aren't able to run the file, chances are that ur file might be corrupt.
Secondly, for future reference, use avipreview or VLC player to view the partially downloaded file to ensure that the media u r downloading is correct.

In win xp its already shared .... u can use \\<computer name>\c$ to access it.
In fact all drives are shared and can be accessed this way .. of course u will be prompted for the admin passwd before u actually get to access the files.

Well my question is unanswered.. What wwould be the risk if i share the root and btw, by default it is not shared, otherwise i would have been able to access others' drives too.
Another thing i anted to ask here is, sometimes when i click on "view workgroup computers" i get the error as MSHOME not accessible, even though the net connection works. Why does this happen.
If there any software which i can use to view the active computers and the folders they share bypassing the windows networking?
Let me know...
Regards,
gaurav | | | | | | | |
