Hi! I know this may sound weird but maybe the problem is not with the software but with hardware. I mean maybe the drive needs to be cleaned or there is some problem with ure ram or nething. I have used all the above players for playing all kinds of files and the only time i face problems like the skipping is when the cd's is badly scratched or my drive is messed up or something else is running which is taking up my ram. This include softwares such as antivirus, downloading software, defrag, scandisk or some other program. U can try the following. disable ur antivirus. Then hit ctrl+alt+del and then go to processes and c if nething is using up the cpu. If ne software or process is, and u rnt running nehting close that process and then try using wmp. Its the most stable. Also VLC player plays everything under the sun(almost) so u can def use that.

Please try this at ur own risk. I should not be held responsible if something goes wrong. This something may be related to the process u close down so research bfore doing anything.

Guys, I have this strange problem where my pc automatically restarts. Though this is not that frequent but after every few days my pc restarts when i am in between some imp. work and once it restarts it doesn't get to normal state. It keeps on restarting itself again and again. As soon as this happens it is the end of computer use for that day.

I try to switch off and again start but to no avail.

I know my pc contains viruses but due to lack of time i am unable to repair it. Though the pc is working fine for my needs. But this restart problem is irritating me a lot.

Well this is an educated guess but U have given the reason for the problem in ure query. My guess is that the virus problem gets triggered because of some program and then ur comp keeps restarting. There are 2 solutions. U can either try fixing the problem thru an antivirus or u could format ur comp and start anew. Neway bfore u backup ur data u should thoroughly scan the comp so that when u restore the data onto the newly installed OS u shudn't transfer the virus again.
Also u could try and remember whether the problem occurs when u r running some particular program or doing some particular task. If so then u can try uninstalling that program or avoid the task. But these are only avoidance techniques. I suggest u take out a few hours to fix ur comp or u will end up losing all ur data. This problem can never be good for ure comp.

Another reason might be some hardware conflict even though its unlikely. Just go thru ur hardware profile and check for conflicts. If u are confident then open up ur comp and make sure there is nothing amiss. Ur RAM might not be compatible. This restarting problem was faced by me when i upgraded my ram but i wasnt able to run my comp so i got the compatible ram fixed. Get some hardware guy to c if ure comp hardware is ok.

I hope these suggestions help solve ur problem.

do the following procedure it might help !!

click

START >> RUN >> in run box type "msconfig" (without quotes)>>press enter

then u'll see msconfig window then in it select START UP tab...now all u have to do is uncheck suspicious items...which starts up every time ur PC boots..

if it doesnt solve ur problem then post here with a more detailed version of ur problem...

Well more than the os u shud have mentioned the graphics card u r running. I hope that the card satisfied the minimum requirements of the game. If it does then there might be a compatability issue with the game. Check out the documentation and See if ur card is listed with the ones which have compatability issue. Also make sure u have the latest direct x. Atleast 9.0 is required. I am sure it will be there along with the game. Next is the graphics driver. It should be the latest.
Just google ur query as well along with ure card name. U will find solutions from others with the same problem.

Sorry dude was travelling . Yeah it looks like you have an smps problem. check both the UPs and your system.

@ratty open GL is a driver so i'm guessing you've accidentally deleted some driver. try loading all the appropriate drivers all over again.

@crazy check your fans -- you could be having an over-heating problem. The fact that it wont work for the rest of the day but works the next makes me suspicious.

Could you tell me what kind of an error message appears b4 ur PC restarts??(if any..)

well i had the same problem a coupla weeks back...
i got my hardware dealer to look into it... he dint find much of an error... replaced the battery compartment which i had mutilated in the process of changing the battery... and just cleaned up everything with his vac.. and tightened all the connections...
now its working fine...
