Yes, currently Flashget rules...Although I was a big fan of the lizard (gozilla) till the time they decided free ain't worth it And yea, for obvious reasons, I always love s/w that unlock at the pasting of a key

ps: btw, could someone tell me which file do i have to edit in a fedora core4 installation to auto-mount my partitions..I know how to mount it, but where do i get it to auto-mount on boot...

thats the reason why i mentioned the <beep> software. its actually a search engine which gives you the text files behind all those kinky links on crack sites. so when i search for anything (crack ), i get .txt files as search results. plus, i have the added advantage of viewing the result within the software GUI itself.

now unless some super-uber crackers have made .txt extension spyware, i believe my comp is safe

help-laptop - 12-09-2005, 09:47 AM

Hi

Could anybody help with choosing a laptop???? I dunno much about computers, dunno which brand would suit me. If anyone has extensive knowledge about laptops and notebooks, pls help.
I am going to begin my MBA in Feb next yr and need a laptop desperately. Could anyone advice me on which brand and model would suit a person who is not a computer whiz???? I am looking at something moderately prized, with good speed and resolution.
Also i would like to know if it would be better to purchase the laptop in India or in Australia ( where i am going for my MBA)???

Thanks

err guys, a software needed for reducing movie files size from 600 odd MBs to 300 MBs. the movie format is changeable; avi, mpeg or dat.

would need to inter-change formats and reduce files in size. any ideas ?

P.S the laptops thread is here : Buying a Laptop (Buying A Laptop)

Use Xvid or DivX with Virtualdub....Or for a DIY kinda s/w, look around for Dr.DivX ....It ain't officially available anymore..And don't go for its successor..Its a pita But in case you in the mood to learn and do, then nothing beats virtual dub combined with a few codecs

@mamathaseshadri There was a huge thread on "which laptop to buy" .....Search for that and bump it up

Cheers

P.S the laptops thread is here : Buying a Laptop (Buying A Laptop)

Depends on what kind of encoding u want.. If u want to just reduce the size and don't care much abt quality then i bet u go for rmvb format by real. It compresses 600 megs to just 200-250 megs with very little damage to picture quality and sound quality..

And as you want 600 megs to go to 300 megs I don't think u care much about quality.
So go for it.. RealProducer wud do the trick for you.. But yes.. U will need Realplayer to run the converted file..

one more issue. actually i bought some DVD's (pssst..cant mention where, this forum is whistle-clean now ) which had 4 movies already compressed and put into 1 DVD. Now, there are 5 .VOB files. all of them are around 1.05 GB. each .vob file has one whole movie + part of the following movie.

now, i used DVD-decryptor to get those files copied on my laptop. now, i need to simply cut them into approprpiate parts.

the problem is that, the kind of avi splitter that i use doesnt recognize .vob extension. plus i would also love to get them stiched back into one file rather than two split files. how do i do this ?
