Thanks, due to high probability of further future damage , I have removed my "given up'" battery and connected the ups with the inverter battery ( added a diode in between too ) for time being.Gonna buy new battery soon.

Dear All,
I was wondering that if the latest version of Mozilla Firefox is 3.0.11 then what is 3.5 RC1, the recently issued one. If the latter is the latest, why doesn't mozilla firefox automatically update to that version? What about, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 ?

I think the 3.5 that you're talking about is the Beta version and not the release one. FF 3 is their release version as of now.

Yes, but what about 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 ? Did firefox release such versions ?
I am confused because the versions generally released are in serial order. So, as compared to 3.5 or even 3.4, 3.0.11 is pretty old.

Don't know about that..... Maybe FF have a different scheme of versioning. Someone else might be able to answer this better.

Is there a good software which can be used to copy text from websites? Many of them disallow the 'ctrl' key to avoid copying text.

Background - Using a software called Ultrasurf to browse the internet on a Wi-Fi network. OS is Windows XP Professional 2002 SP 2 (pirated ).
Problem 1 - How do I uninstall Internet Explorer 6 from my lappy and get an IE version which has tabbed windows. When I try to run the IE 8 setup, there is an error msg which says that the exe is not a valid Win 32 application.
Same error msg is displayed when I try to install latest Google Chrome version.
Problem 2 - I can't run any website on Mozilla Firefox latest version which involves logging in like Gmail, Orkut, FB, Twitter. Tried uninstall and reinstall. Did not work.
Please reply to these issues at the earliest.
Regards and cheers

Thanks a lot for answering my query.
Your link mentions three methods -
1. It installs SP 2 which I already have.
2. It asks for the XP SP 2 CD which I don't have.
3. It installs IE 6 which I wan't to uninstall.

ohkk...
if it doesn't help at all, you must try a naive idea...
try using system restore...
it may work as i have used it many times to a lasting effect...
