Actually, what happens is that the latest versions, all consume, truck loads of memory space, all alike.

As such, I'm using the latest versions of Chrome, FF & IE but IE8 is the slowest browser, i've seen. Opening more than 2-3 tabs at a time, make it almost dead. Chrome, FF & K-Meleon are slightly better.

Yet it does happen that whenever I open a no. of tabs the system starts consuming a lot of virtual memory. I have only 256 MB of physical RAM installed. Moreover, after re-starting the system from hibernation, the system takes a lot of time to become normal & till such time, the browser is very sluggish

Chrome is the best if its only 256 MB RAM.. I suggest u use more of that.. Otherwise FF.. IE is the worst browser possible (except IE 6)..

If you bargain, you'll get the Dell Inspiron lappy+bag for 37-38K. Try talking to the Dell guy.

i suppose hard disk might suffer the most- the head might crash etc..
but considering that there might be a lot of spikes which the UPS usually filters out, every component connected to the SMPS might suffer- I had one desktop wid fried motherboard and RAM
