What's the problem ? - 13-11-2006, 11:14 AM

Hello !

ok, this post is going to get me into a fair bit of trouble. but this has been bugging me since a long time. so here goes....

i just noticed that there was a post in the chit-chat forum regarding what is everybody's preferred time-slot for giving cat. it has been locked by the mod.

why cant we discuss what we want to unless its offensive ? i can maybe understand it being locked if it was in the cat forum, why what's the bloody problem here ? i have noticed this frequently, why are the mods so high-handed. why cant there be a bit of time-pass, especially if its in the correct forum ?

and please dont lecture me about 'wasting' time 6 days before cat. its not an exam where one has to study for 20 hours in a day. basically you need to do something which can take the pressure off too.... and why not on pagalguy ?

the mods behave like anything which is not quite relevant has to be locked ? why ? just let it be.... if people dont like it, it will be automatically ignored. why not be democratic. ok, i understand that moderation is essential in the case of offensive posts or if someone is launching a tirade against somebody. but why be so ridiculously strict? chinese citizens must be having more freedom for god's sake.

there was a post on pg some time ago about why many people who get into b-schools dont stay active on pg. i think it could well be because its so restrictive. no wonder, once the work is done ( getting in ), they just move off.

it sure is annoying when this happens. just why does a discussion on preferred time slots for cat have to be locked? absolutely beyond me. IMHO, this is a gross, blatant misuse of power by the mods. just look at the amount of groans you have got, mahip.

i so wont be surprised if this thread is locked, deleted or i am given a warning.....

cheers,
Harshad

I concur with everything that you say. Its like questioning sensibilities of the people who start these threads or post in these threads In fact here is what I had written a few minutes back too:

Re: What's the problem ? - 13-11-2006, 11:38 AM

exactly..... and even if the sensibilities of the thread starter and the people posting are in doubt, i still dont see where the problem lies in doing some time-pass.

there are double standards in the moderation. what purpose does a new thread which asks everybody to post their cat centres serve ? well, ya, great, you found somebody who has the same centre. yayyy ! what a great reason to celebrate. but this thread has been started by the mod himself !

a few months ago, i was having a torrid time in my mocks. so i made a 'help' post in the forum, asking for suggestions and help from fellow puys. then i noticed the career avenues help thread, and posted the same thing there. the mods promptly locked my first post. here i was, in genuine need of advice, and they locked my post for 'double posting'. what is wrong is asking advice from 2 different sources ? obviously i wanted advice from CA as well as puys.

praveen....

yup ! am surprised it hasnt happened already !!

Harshad

Some people just need to overhaul the meaning of chit-chat.

@MAHIP...instead of locking ur targeted thread one by one , why don't u lock the entire chit chat forum at once

I have decided...come what may...

Before this thread too get locked let me post my views
seriously man, I think there is something wrong

The Chit -Chat definition as given is "Relax , unwind and make friends. Talk about anything you wish. Its time to lay back and relax. Small talk - Chit Chat. You don't even have to make sense."

read the last sentence. Now is Chit Chat is not what it used to be.
And I don't think that "bolloywood" thread was total nonsense and anyone have posted in there without giving a thought of what he is posting.
