Les Cules... here they come.
Chelsea sucked big time in that match. What were they doing after going one up? I guess they were waiting for Barca to kick their asses.
Anyways Barca were shadow of themselves especially without Henry, Puyol and one more defender (forgot his name ). Waise bhi, they are not a good defending side. Still attack was loose and its lucky they got past this Hara-Kiri.
Anyways Barca played good and beautiful football. I wont say whether they deserved to win or not... But i am glad they won. It's better non-English team wins this time.

Here are a few pointers which would help you understand the culture of FC thread.
1.no disrespect is ought to be shown to any club (name calling included), player or fellow puy. remember, loyalty is one thing, respect is another
club bashing of any sort wont be entertained here. I would be forced to make a deletion of posts which degrade rival clubs or players.
constructive criticism is always welcome.
3. analyse the game or incident/s as practically as possible. cut out the tosh like 'i love manchester united, they are the best' and similar viewpoints which are probably unbecoming of managers.
4. avoid the one-liners wherever necessary. if you feel that the same can be incorporated in an another post, then please do so.
Happy posting

Re: Football Club -

Calling us by our real name,
Its United (or) Manchester United (or) MUFC (or) Red Devils (or) Man Utd but never MANu/MANyoo
ManU - The Usage
Manu is not a term united fans refer themselves to. The name was coined by rival fans after the munich disaster where 8 first team members lost their lives along with 15 others (support staff & journalists)
'Manu' is not a referral! Its an insult to the dead.
The reason why noobs refer to united as manyoo stems from the display name that Espn-Star has in store for us.(the abbreviated name for united = manu) + (their ignorance about the munich incident)
History
After the munich disaster, when united travelled to other clubs the following season, they were subjected to chants of
'manyoo manyoo went on a plane, manyoo manyoo never came back again'
(and) Man U Never Intended Coming Home again. Take the first letter of each word and it amounts to munich.
This was in direct reference to the munich incident.
Rival clubs
WBA fans were the first to taunt united with the chants above. They also came up with
'Who's that lying in the aircraft' and 'Who's that team we call United' .
further, chants of 'duncan duncan rotting on a plane, duncan duncan never came back again' also sprang up when united played against WBA.
The same was heard @ spurs, chelsea, millwall.
Then liverpool picked it up. some of the fans chanted the same but were quickly refuted by the majority of the other liverpool fans who were present in the stadium. An apology was issued by the kop fans to their united counterparts.
However, by the end of the decade (70's) it became universal and the term "man u" became the word nearly every other team's fans used and painted on walls
Everyone knew what it meant. It was laughter at the death of Duncan and the Babes
The Present
over the years, petitions have been filed against Espn/Star, requests have been sent to change the same, signature campaigns have been launched by different forums. Actions into the same have been promised by media houses.
Its not about a club. I'm not here scripting this article because it concerns Manchester United.
It counts for zilch whether its about arsenal, liverpool, hammers, toffees, spurs, crankfield crackers or manchester united.
The term mocks death and the usage of which is simply unacceptable.

Chelsea came with a game plan and stuck to it. Since when is playing defesive not a tactic. Its not like they were acting like thugs(which is surprising). In fact they had more shots than Tippy Toeing one touch Catalans.
I repeat once again for all. Playing 2 DMs to intercept throughballs and 2 people marking 1 player is not Anti Football. In fact it was the style of the most revered teams around- AC Milan have become legends for doing so.
And why should a non english team win?
It's a marathon, not a sprint. Unless you're Man Utd, in which case you let the other teams get ahead and then start sprinting as they all fall apart.

No doubt Chelsea defended well and had good counter-attacks. At the same time they were reluctant to throw their team forward. Even against a depleted tean reduced to 10 men, same tactic!
I dont approve of any team playing this kind of football, atleast if they can play better.

The reason being English teams are in contrast to reflection of their in-house talent. Especially teams like Chelsea and Arsenal. Just imagine where would these teams be, if 6+5 rule applies. Doomed! They are winning mainly because they have money. Why dont they groom talent.
Teams like Barca will have no such problem with 6+5 rule.

The recent discussion doing the rounds is IS THERE A HINT OF CONSPIRACY.Michelle Platini,a French,is at the helm of EUFA.He has openly expressed his disliking at the domination of English clubs.Whispers started doing the rounds when Fletcher was red carded controversially, and it has now changed to outrage after that Norweignian lad turned down at least four penalty appeals, some of them dead sure ones, from Chelsea.A referee is a human and he's prone to mistakes, but how many times? He can mess up once or twice but four times??????People have already started saying Platini will do whatever he can to stop the UCL from going to England.Though I personally don't want to believe in this, but from what I saw,I can't shrugg off these allegations as bogus either.
What do the PG gurus think ?

Well...people will always find to find reasons behind everything. Definitely, this time its not baseless, but imagine...had Chelsea won, would these discussions have come up at all? NO! IMO, this is all what we call in hindi... baal ki khaal nikaalna. Also, this has led to aggressive and violent responses towards UEFA and the referee. I remember last time Anders Frisk had to quit football for a similar incident involving Chelsea...and he really was a good referee. Well, this referee sucked, but I hope this doesn't happen this time though, for the sake of football and all its glory.
-my two cents.

Wow! Well conspiracy theorists are there everywhere and they'd like to jump on any occassion....
I find it very hard to believe. Reasons:
1> Fletcher red card wouldn't have changed the result of the game. I can still accept the (far fetched) argument that it was meant to make it more interesting and less one sided but how would it be against "English opposition". Both teams are English!
2> The refereeing was pathetic in Barca game, but everyone is overlooking a red card which was given when not required. So wasn't the Abidal red card against the conspiracy? Heck it would have (and did) reduced Barca's chances of winning by a good measure.....
Besides Chelsea players and Coach all have explicitly ruled out conspiracy allegations.
All this talk happens because of passion. Over the last few years because of Sky's marketing Asian and Indian people have developed huge following for EPL, so people will always feel any opinion/decision against any EPL team as "intentional"
I'll believe it was a conspiracy only and only if the referee is caught (with proof) in some kind of match fixing scandal for that match.....
I am sure if you speak to Italian footy fans they'll feel that it's Italian teams being targetted....because (Just for theory) first no Italian team made it past English teams in first knock out.....second....they all got knocked out in UEFA cup by German teams.....so they might, if they want, term it a conspiracy to Rank German teams above Italian teams (Point system).....

May be a possibility. Since the domination of the English clubs in UCL has definitely increased in the past few years.Liverpool started it and last year their were 4 english teams in the last 4.So their is definately a scope for speculation.Especially after seeing the standard of referring in the match . I hope its not true otherwise we will be deprived of the mouthwatering encounter on 27.

I am astonished. This can be one great conspiracy theory.
But then Why dont you consider bad refereeing against Barca at Nou Camp. Maybe Platini missed that one. Red card of Abidal could have been there just to deceive such Conspiracy therorists.
Many claim that there were 4 definite penalties. Personally i think there was none. But yes 2 "could" have been given.
- Pique's hand-ball inside box. (not intentional)
- Abidal tussling with Drogba. (not a visible foul)
