Suggestion required for the General Management Program for IT course of IIM Bangalore - 05-07-2005, 02:20 PM

Hi ,
This is Vishal here.. I am preparing for CAT 05. Our co' has collaboration with IIMB and I just got a news yesterday for which I need your suggestions...

IIMB has introduced a new course General Management Program for IT (Duration is 1 year) under Executive Programs.

Could you please suggest about this program. Is it worth investing 1.3 lacs for this course ?

Following is the information about it.
Executive Education : General Management Program for IT

1-year program, twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursday 9.00am to 1.15pm

Introduction : The General Management Programme has been customized to embed advanced managerial skills among IT professionals. It responds to a major need experienced in the IT industry, where superior technical competence is not necessarily complemented by an equally appropriate basket of skills intimately connected with managerial competence. This is aimed at balancing both competencies in professionals by providing participants with a state-of-art exposure to the theory and practice of management considered at multiple levels including that of (a) the individual (b) the firm and (c) the larger external context.

Program Offerings : The program has been structured into 3 modules. Each module will consist of about 4 courses of 24 sessions each for a maximum duration of 75 minutes. The three modules will broadly cover themes in managerial economics, finance, quantitative methods, managing organizations, marketing, operations and service quality, human resource management, interpersonal skills, business strategy, communication and presentation skills and project management.

Eligibility
· Graduation with minimum of 2+ year of post qualification work experience

Selection Process
· Selection will be based on the application form and profile of candidates.

Course Fee : Rs.1,30,000/-
The fees is payable in instalments
The exact dates for payment will be communicated to the student at the time of admissions.

Checklist of Documents to be submitted along with the Application Form
· Photocopies of all academic records starting from Higher Secondary.
· 3 Passport size photographs
· Work Experience Certificate
· Registration fee of Rs.10,000/- (refundable if not selected) through a demand draft favoring “Indian Institute of Management Bangalore” Payable at Bangalore.
· All payments should be in the name of “Indian Institute of Management Bangalore” Payable at Bangalore.

Important Dates
Last date for registrations : 7th July 2005
Last date for receiving 1st Installment : 12th July 2005
Classes Start : 19th July 2005

Any help / suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Vishal.
