Do MCAs get into IIMs ???

Hi,

I am opening this thread to invite your opinion about the precedence of IIMs taking in MCAs (Master Of Computer Application).
I want to know if anyone of you know of any MCA (Masters in Computer Applications) currently studying in any IIM. Also is there any precedence of IIMs taking in MCA's.
Actually i have two friends with decent profile with two year work ex and decent gd and PI, both of whom could not make it to IIM Indore so we were wondering about the possible reasons of this.

Please help us with your experience. This would be very useful for us.

OK. So u guys are MCA n wanna get straight into IIMs.
Can u justify why u went for MCA n then why another post grad qual like MBA after doing MCA?
Dear if u can give a proper reply to it.......u r gonna make it (but ofcourse u should have excellent percentile + some advantage over others in terms of work-ex, hobbies etc etc)

I dunno why u want to have the solace of someone telling u that u can make it. Just give ur best.

If people after doing CA desire to be in IIMs, so can MCA guys..............

Short Answer: yes, MCAs have known to do MBA from the IIMs.

Long Answer: Sda is spot on when he says you don't need a past precedence to actually justify your need for an MBA. The way I look at it is that a MCA is just a 6year route to get where a 4yr Engineering degree might get you. But along the road you pick up a lot of invaluable non-technical experience.

Just to clarify few things:
This was not a case of going straight for MBA after completing MCA. A valuable workex of 2 years was under the belt. Also, we were wise enough to justify the need to go for an MBA now quite logically. I agree there may be lotta factors which play a role in getting thru IIMs, one of which we thought could have been an MCA thing. and that was why we opened this thread to clarify this genuine doubt we had, not to solace or comfort ourselves, but to understand the shortcomings which can be overcome and with the aim to decide the future course of action. Anyways, thanks for the inputs.

u dont have to worry too much jus focus on cat for ur information one Pgiteambuj who has done BCA is in iim cal he has 2.5 yr workex
u do not wory too whatever they ask or inquire from u justify it then noone can stop u to be in iims

Thanks Vipin for your reply.
But this example doesnt help much as the doubt is about the MCA profile.
Most MCAs come from diverse graduate backgounds like finance,biotech,
and other such graduation streams. Let me know in case of any such
examples if you come across. thanks again.
