Well if one cares to Read and Understand the reason as to why the THREAD has been started and stick to that... i think this whole idea will be more effective.

Not one person in here has cared to throw any kind of light on the topic being disscussed.

I being a junior member am now thinking, are all the threads (which is a huge number) that have been started by genuine, aspirants who need help, treated like this and made a mockery of??

Thomas.

Hi, Well, is this what Pagalguy is all about?? Maybe, maybe not....But one thing for sure, irrespective of the response that your query may get, do NOT discount the huge service that this is of to the aspirants.......Posting, and getting respos, in a Discussion forum, is a learning process....Firstly search and then post...And when ya post, post concise....You cant expect others to do your homework....And coming in with nothing but a list of questions doesn't exactly help !!!

Cheers

Regards,
Thomas!
first off, i ain't a B-schooler (not yet), but as an aspiring student hopin' to end up in one of those IIMs out there, i am in a position to answer a few of those questions.

well now. taking those one by one.

1) Is it worth?
-> Wouldn't know. I'm hoping that one of the guys who've specialised in systems out here on PG would answer this. To me, my guess is yes. As it has immense scope considering that technology,(meaning IT/SW), is everywhere.

2) Which Institutes are GOOD at this?
-> Again, wouldn't know entirely. But the PGDCM course @ IIM- Calcutta is considered to be one of the very best at it. IIM-I also says on its website that IT is a sector they are hugely interested in.

3) Wt about placements?
4) Wt about the packages? [ IS THE MONEY THERE?? ]
-> hmm..over to the veterans here. As far as money is concerned, my guess is Yes. As IBM, HP et al pay well over the 7Lakh mark for the top b-schoolers (this is a figure is just heard from placements@XL).

5) Any MNCs recruit MBAs with SYSTEMS in INDIA? if yes WHICH ones?
-> I wish i knew... But again...veterans????

6) Does a MCA help?
-> maybe. as also a B.E(CSE/IT), or any other CS/IT oriented course. the systems courses would ofcourse be easier and you'd be more of a god in 'em, but this goes without saying doesn't it? in the end it matters how muck knowledge you really possess in this sector more than the degree you have... but again..me is speaking as a futcha, would love it if some big guns answered...

7) Anything else that i have missed out...
->hmmm...answering a few of pappu's queries in this one>> the IIT's MBAs (esp. SJMSOM, DMS) are known for their Systems specialisation as also IIM-Cal as already mentioned with the PGDCM course being the defacto-standard..

for the rest of your queries, I as jus another aspirant am in no position to answer...my apologies. this post here is for the simple fact that you haven't found this forum wanting... i dint want to answer as i wasn't the appropriate person to handle this..but i hope i've cleared atleast a few doubts.

lastly, i'd recommend you to download IIMCal's Brochure from their website and check out the extra courses in the PGDCM course. as also the ENTIRE curriculum which is put up on the JMET site (http://jmet.iitd.ac.in) if i ain't wrong. please check out these sites, they'll give you and pappu a fair idea of what the systems specialisation exactly has.

hope this helped to, atleast to an extent.

shall find the veterans now.

Payne

PS : as uRmad has already said, yes it'd be useful to do your homework first and then post on more specific doubts. sure the internet is a powerful tool, but when you expect it to work as a magic genie its pushing the limits, we are humans out here after all. (humans who are dyin in anticipation of results mind u!) check out the links above, and please do go through the course contents in their entirety. the rest of your questions are up for grabs now.

Exclamation Apology!! - 29-03-2005, 10:24 PM

Greetings Ppl!!

I am sorry for having opined so strongly.. i still have a long way to learn as u might have already realised...

I would like to thank you both for the valueable inputs... but yes i still am waiting for some seasoned veterans to take some time out and help us Aspirants... with ours queries

ut i still dont agree with the fact that ppl make a mockery of the thread by discussing TOTALY the insanity of their respctive IDs... pls ignore these lines if they offend any of my dear readers.

Once again Payne and TreepWood thank you... and as for rUmad... i ceartainly am not discounting the BACK BONE like support that this forum gives us aspirants, but it is sure does not help to come in to the Discussion and start up a talk that has nothing to do with any of the topics, but instead are absolutely useless and out of the place postings... PaGalGuy has provided threads and space for such UNWINDING sessions!! Hats off to the PAGAL guy!!
And one more thing wt makes u think that I was askig you to do my home work. Pls if u feel u are doig my home work, Dont even bother!!

The fact is the the net is so ful of stuff that it is now difficult to even disipher the right from the wrong. It always helps if the aspirants get first hand information form the veterans, that is wt this place is all about right?

Regards,
Thomas.
