Computer Engineers For Iim Gd/pi

hi ppl,
my first post here. am comp. engg from nsit- final year.
seems like all the instis are quite interested in tech and acads.
i chose my fav subjects to b
1) programming - c/c++
2) data structures
both are quite related actually.
mostly up till now i have been grilled on my projects and tech aspects of those.. seems like they r impo.
durin the iim-a intr i was asked to write an actual code on apiece ofpaper .. (something ppl told me wil never happen). simple code but time consumin.

This might sound strange....
My favourite subject is Computer Networks but I don't know much about it!!

Like Catophillic, even I wud like to know how deeply they dig into your tech knowledge. Also can you call a programming language, say 'C' as a subject?
I ask this bcoz during campus placement, they said C can't be favourite subject because its a language..

os , dbms and compilers also seem like a good choice. but networkin is pretty wide a topic and the profs know a good deal abt it so i guess mention it only if u have a good depth of knowledge incl current happs n practical appl.
n C is a progr lang n progr is one of the most impo( if not THE most impo) subs we hav in comp engg. so ui cud say prog with C/C++ as known langs.

Lucky for your friend Rinku, but not quite so for my friend who flunked his TCS interview coz he said C was his favourite subject

don't think anyone wud flunk tcs coz of c being his fav sub. they r looking for progs. must b for other reasons. i got thru tcs with c as my fav.

share any intr tech qs they ask frm ur fav subs in any of the ints.

1)c/c++ programming with data structures of course.

2) compilers

guys i think that OS will not be a right choice it is a very vast topic
and DBMS will also be not right coz DBMS is a subject which is there in the course of IIMs(confirmed).

morover programming is better bcoz they can at max ask u to write a prog and i dont think that will be much of problem and rest the questions could be totally based on theory.

pl post what questions u think that could be asked!!!!!!!
