Hi All
I have got 4 calls from IIMs.But I think my stuttering English, chequered with pauses wont let me convert any of them.
I am ok in written English but have the following problems while speaking:
1. Keep groping for words (atleast once evry 5 sentences). Though my vocabulary is good(crammed GRE word list), still have to grope.
2. Speak in a flat voice, no change in emphasis.
3. Sometimes have difficulty converting ideas into complete sentences.
I appeal to one and all to pour forth their suggestions or ideas which might have worked for them.I think this is a problem for quite a few persons though the magnitude may vary.
Waiting for your replies,

Hey chillax mann.....
The IIMs are gonna look more than just language skills..its an insignificant factor.....concentrate more on what you are speaking.....content can get you through...language doesnt get you anywhere.....
As for your suggestions....I tried the following things...and seems to have worked out for me......
Cramming the word list is far from making use of it..you might sound odd if you make use of those words in a situation where a simple word would make an impact.....so use them only when required......make use of them in your regular( informal) conversations with your friends.....sometimes you yourself will realise I sound like an idiot.....thats a learning....the IIM proff would think the same way.....
Speaking in a flat voice is not a problem....mix it with pauses which you thought were your disadvantage and you'll find that without making an effort to emphasise ...you can get your point through......
The third is a thing you must really work on....generating ideas is not a great thing...communicating it is very important......I think the junta would be able to help you out of it.....I am hopelessly poor at it too ...
All the best....
Barat My inferiority complexes aren't as good as yours. | | | | | | | |
