[2002] IIM-K GD/PI experiences

hi,
had my iimk gd/pi today at iimk. felt most of it as a pleasure trip except during the gd/pi time.
Was short trip of 5 kms from our college.The iimk campus situated atop a hill offered a gr8 view of the surroundings .
gd topic was " indian share markets are not a reliable source of fund for indian industries."
Just managed to step in 2 or 3 times and that too not in a very convincing manner.
PI was better.
3 in the panel
Started by asking about my project. Did a brief explanation after which they went to OR. Here I held on for a while before I had to say "donno".Then some DBMS
which again turned out to be a sore point (Have made it a point to look at this atleast b4 iimb).then some discussion on crosswords which i had specified in my hobbies. then about my participaton in a n IT prog.
Then they asked me about my campus placements and why management .The third guy was mm the whole time.

There wast just one fresher in tha batch b4 last and 5 last yr.
Just one more to go for me. its iimb on 3rd april

hii guys,
me had my iimk interview yesterday.....went as bad as interviews cld possibly go....
it straarted with her askin me :_"give an application of Calculus in slum development project "???( i am a chemical engineer )
when i said i cld max introduce algebra he gave a clue of it bein related to income levels...i said i still cldnt figure it out...he told me to think over it later....
he then asked what is nomistics(i had done some course on it)....so i cld say some crap ....he then asked me some gk questions and most of them i bulbed.......questions varied from philosophy to mahabharat to muslim music to my mother tongue.....
finally he aksed me which all iims called u...i said only k......to that he retorted why did we call u???he then reprased it sayin why didnt the rest of the iims call u...(some consolation it is)......boy, but it was a very good experience i must add.....well thats all folks...just wanted to share this experience with wanabe catizens....

The K experience:
Pretty good.
GD: Discussion on space disasters and destiny. Had a very good GD. 8 people.
PI: Started with Apply integration to management, explain functions(yeah..right), why is calculus used, Apply differentation to management, then some work-ex related questions and finally why such bad acads (Man..its tiring answering this)
Rating: 7/10 (wasn't able to answer integration to management.)

After the disappointment of IIM-I, K turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
GD was - If rogue states could only be contained by a global policeman then is the US justified in it's role in Iraq. 8 people - had a pretty good GD.
Interview went better.
Started on work-ex Different software life cycle- advantages and disadvantages of each from a management standpoint, and current assignments.
Shifted to cricket - form mentioned I had played for my college cricket team. mainly on reverse swing and Ashes history.
Went on to GK- mainly quizzed me on a couple of points I raised during the GD and asked to elaborate on them. Resolution 1441, Israel issues, Un vetoes by U.S, Iraq oil reserves.
Finished by asking me if I take part in any community or social activities.
Around 15 minutes in all.

hello all buddies,
My experience at IIM-K was not so good..
GD topic-A pragraph was given .theme was that human equality & liberal equality can be achieved but econonic equality is hard to achieve.
..there were total 9 people in a group but one guy was absent.so it was a group of 8 people.it went smoothly.at the end of 10 min. they immediately cut our GD.almost everybody contributed to topic.

Interview-lasted for 15 min.
opened with technical..as mine is mechanical engg. backgound so they went to Thermodynamics,IC engines,and at last work ex.
Q:-Tel me laws of thermodynamics.
Q:-compare 2stroke & 4stroke engines
Q:-which engine will have more power 2stroke or 4stroke for same CC.
Q-What is simplex method(operation research)
Q-what is Quality?
Q-What is Xbar?how is it drawn?
Q-what are quality stardards?
Q-What did u do during u r work atXxXXX.?

Thats it lasted ...panel consisted 2 guys ,very simple looking and cool..
