lemme set the ball rollin......... i m final yr electronics and comm BE frm NSIT, can u plz give an idea of how much will v b grilled on technical front..... and though i understand tht it is not quite out in open but still if u can give ne inputs on the weightage given to GDs and PI by IIMC

I don't know how to really frame this question. but here it goes- I have got a call from C only, what exactly shud i do now. to make sure of a convert?

I am doing B.Tech at IIT M in electrical engg. cgpa of 7.1/10 . decent school record. and good extracurriculars. obviously no work ex.

Any sugesstion for what to do for GD/PI. what all to take care of ( Tech stuff, anything?) .

Regarding weightages..it varies from year to year and nobody except the adcom knows about it.
Anyway, that's something that's not in your domain , so it would be better to concentrate on something where you can make a difference.
For freshers, I guess you need to concentrate on your acads (especially application aspects) and extra currics. IIMC has a flair for extra currics.

Lemme know if there's anything in particular.

See the point is, what can someone ask from a fresher apart from academics?? So be sure that some acad related questions would be there in the interview until unless the panels attention is caught by something very unusual/attractive on your form.
Regarding the weitages, u can check following link were i made a post regarding what the rough estimates of weitages were there last year.

That seems to be the general trend, but then as this years cat has shown, IIMs can do what they like. So be biased at your own risk.

Nah, there is no different cutoff for PGDCM. You either get both the calls or none.

Engineers in general and IITians in particular are a little favored by IIM C. So you have a decent chance. But dont be too sure, coz many a times even IITians have got a kick. All that can be said is that IIT tag gets you a better probabality of conversion.
In extracurrics, if you have held positions of responsiblity, then they might ask questions related to that. Also if there is some extraordinary acheivement on extracurrics, that might help. But yes be sure that they would like to grill you on acads because of your low cg. Basically as the CG goes up, less are the questions related to acads, as Cg itself becomes a certificate of good acad.
