Working guys - 19-09-2002, 03:06 PM

Just wanted to how you all guys who are currently working somewhere
manage their time to study as well as work/

For me, i go to office by 9:30 and come back by 7:30.
Its refreshment time and taking a good bath and dinner , i settle down to study by around 10:00 till 2:00 PM doing 2 full-length test per week as well as the Simcats . Between these full-length tests are interspersed
some sectional tests as well as some formulae revision(for QUANT) etc.

Any inputs guys and gals?

Gaurav

Hey. I can't even dream ofputting in 4 hrs a day. i will start putting in more time bcoz u r scaring me ! if people like u r putting in 4 hrs, i should be doing the same.
I get 2 office by 9:30 and get home by 8:30-9:00. then after making dinner, washing dishes and all that i feel 2 drained 2 do anything. so i used 2 do all my prep during weekends. but u have inspired me, buddy ! Thx 4 letting me know that u r putting in long hrs though u r already at the top. i think imay have been getting a bit complacent.

You have hit the nail right at the head capreal . From now on ,saturdays and sundays(when there are no Simcats) will be dedicated to Full length tests in the morning.
I will even try to give it a shot for 2-3 days to see how it goes for the morning.
And for everybody who's listening , this is very crucial ....as last year i gave almost all my tests in the night ( and that might have made its presence felt on the D-day) .
Try to give it your best shot Ravi , you have more experience than us and for you 4 hours per day might not be essential . What's more essential is how you (ravi) now fine tune yours potentials and STRATEGIES .
That's it for now. And to all you working guys , just keep slogging...dedication and toil will see you through.

Man! That 4 hours is something unattainable for me.

I reach home by around 7:30 -8 pm. Cook dinner, eat and its already 11:00 pm or later by then. I put in an hour maybe 2 at most. And hit the sack at 1am. And its time for office at 8:30 in the morning.
I guess that reflects in my poor scores so far. <sigh>

Guys ! i think that with just 2 months 2 go all of us had better pull up our socks and start hitting the books instead of hitting the sack.
Gaurav: Thx 4 saying

But i have 2 improve. and it tough going beyond where i've reached by now. i need 2 put in some time 2 improve my scores that another notch which will make all the difference.

Guys, let's all follow Gaurav's ex. and start working at least 2-3 hrs regularly.

Well initially even I used to think that for a working guy CAT is somewhat unassialable. But Now I make it a point to put in sometime daily if not 4 hours. There are many ppl, who come up with an excuse that they don't get time but I feel that anyone can put atleast one hr a day and with some prolonged weekend practice is more than enough for any one to prepare adequetely. I was myself inspired by ppl around me who are now in iima, b c and l respectively. So guys lets give it a shot.

Cheers and all the best,
Venkat

Lucky Thread this one...!! - 22-08-2005, 10:37 AM

Hey all! This sure looks like some lucky thread to me... Goin by the avtars of the people who posted here a couple of yrs back!! The same people went on to join the likes of XLRI, ISB, IIMK... Hmm so here is my own take on this issue!!

Well im a brand new saaftware professional( joined in july) and currently harbouring dreams for an MBA... not to mention that I have already burnt my fingers once at CAT last yr when i was in final yr and mustered just 97.6 percentile. I certainly didnt learn many lessons it seems as I have not started in earnest for CAT yet.. but joined Career Forum da test series yesterday and with some 3 months left finally motivated enough to just go for it...
I have decided on the following schedule....

Mon to Fri

7-730 am : Gym

8 am - 6pm : Saaftware Engg

come back home, do some random stuff, khana peena, etc.

8 pm - 1 am : CAT putting some 4 odd hrs ( with the required breaks)

Sat-Sun
Put in at least 6 hrs every day keeping in mind the Weekend-masti

Will try to stick to this till October end and then accelerate from there on....

Wish me luck fellas!! Wish u all good luck too!!

I think that I think, therefore I think that I am.... Cogito cogito ergo cogito sum
