hi all
how did ur simcat 2 go?? mine was pretty cool today.....started off badly by losing the ims id card......but they allowed me in as i knew a few people personally there..........then...there was this ganesha festival being celebrated outside....and boy....there was some horrible music at full volume blast.....was wondering how i could concentrate....but once i got the paper in hand.....didnt hear a thing......amazing!!!!!!
lemme get down to my exp and analysis of sim 2
the paper had 3 sections with 55 questions each
sec 1 was math.....with 40 typical cat type questions and 15 logical reasoning questions........ this was my best section
sec 2 was english usage and rc......was pretty okay okay stuff
sec 3 was di.....typical ims type...with some horrible graphs, reasoning and ds
my performance:
sec 1 33 right and 1 wrong(howzzat for accuracy??) score 32.75
sec 2 32 right and 8 wrong score 30.00
sec 3 23 right and 11 wrong score 20.25
over all 108 attempts.......88 right and 20 wrong....takes my score to 83.00
the paper also had a timelimit of 40 mins for each section.
this is as far as my analysis goes.......what about the rest of u?
hey....di section the ds was screwing...i dunno what happened.....attempted 8 and got all of them wrong else....my accuracy for the day woulda been a dream come true

mine was okay too
seemz ims sims are following the std of prev yr cat.
2 sims were pretty simple thus far..

I ended up with a stiff neck. Damn the CAT paper. It always does that to me.

Now onto the actual paper :

Sec 1 was the nicest section. Attempts of 35 with 30 Right & 5 Wrong.

Sec 2 was a mixed bag for me. My accuracy in this section was pretty low.
I have messed up some pretty simple questions here as I had not practiced them in a year :(. Well, I now know what kind of stupidity I am capable of. Attempts - 49 with 33 Right & 16 Wrong.

Sec 3 was weird ! What was the DS about ? I had the same experience as bingo here.
32 attempts with 22 Right and 10 Wrong.


Total - net score of 78.75

Awesome effort bingo. Way to go. Hope to hear more experiences here.

Hi guys
This is Gaurav. My SIMCAT 2 was a mixture of extremes.
My scores are:
Attempt Correct Wrong Score

Section 1: 37 32 5 30.75
Section 2: 49 33 16 29(PagalGuy,same as yours?)
Section 3: 33 27 6 25.5

Total : 119 92 27 85.25

It personally think this is an OK score ,since the overall difficulty level was
low (except some questions from last section where the questions looked gigantic yet were very simple) . The number of mistakes i made in the second section and the corresponding number of attemots in it ONLY GOES to show how accuracy can sail you through very comfortably.Out of the 16 mistakes in this sction , 6 of them were from a single passage:
RUSSIA's ARMS POLICY etc.... . The answers of most of them were a bit tricky On reviewing my paper , it hurts to see such a quantum of mistakes from a single passage .

In my opinion a score of 90+ in this paper would have been ideal enough to see you through. Anyway no point crying over spilt milk. The only consolation is that we all have only got to improve from here and
most important of all , peak at the right time.

Happy analysing weaknesses this week and best of luck for SIMCAT 3.

Hi guys,

Cat gives me a sore neck . This was a real simple paper. I think cut offs would have soared. Anyway a score of 90+ would be the only way to get a call from all IIMs. Am I right guys?????

This is how I fared:

Section 1: attempted 39 , wrong 4, score 34
Section 2: Attempted 33, wrong 13, score 16.75 (Gosh! I gotta do something abut this section. it always snares me --- no matter how simple)
Section 3: Attempted 43, wrong 10, score 30.5
(Right guys DS was a little tricky.)

It was a very simple paper, I think on an average people would have atleast attempted 70-80 questions. An attempt of around 100 -110 questions with 90%+ accuracy would be the only demarcating line between the losers and the winners.

I personally met a few guys who were confident of a score of 90+ ... lets wait and watch though.

There are 2 months left Khaifu4u....... More than enuf to turn the tables on us.

There was this friend of mine last year who never got his names into the top 100's in the IMS SIMCATS. The best he did was when he got a 60+ in the last SIMCAT. He was always in the 40-50 range.

he landed a call from all the IIMs and converted a couple too. That guy was the limits. he was on fire at the right moment
