hi ppl,
i m one of the aspirants for cat 2004,
of the few mock cats i hav taken . i thnk the biggest mistake nebdy can do is the wrong selection of which section to do first.
i hope evrybdy knows that there r xactly three 40 mins slots in the 2 hrs test.
where in the second slot of 40 mins u have the peak concentratn.there for i suggest attempting ur weakest section in those 40 mins can really do wonders!!!!!
believe me it works.
i start my test wid verbal)EU, n than DS.analytical q's in DI n then proceed wid my RC. quant is the last sectn i attempt.
i score decently smwhere around 55-60.
i hope the suggestns will help
gud luck

Hi

Thanks for your reply

I did not mean 20 minutes , i meant find out 20 - 25 QUESTIONS of topics you are confident at and mark them. Diffullty level will matter when you attempt them , in this case at least you wont miss the sitters. Lets see ill try this in future mocks and see how it works.

I agree with you that each ones got to evolve their own stratgey .

Whats the call on which section to take first, strongest area or weakest area?

I guess take the weakest first ,set a max time limit to it and make sure to do enough to clear the cuttoff within this time, get it our of the way . Move to your strongest section so you are not so tired, maximize this section. Then move to the third section. In my case Quant - 40 mins VA,RC 35 Mins - Many more attempts compared to quant. Then DI 35 mins.

At the end of this you still have 10 mins time to judge thje difficulty level of the test for any section where you feel you havent done well or need to do better to get a higher perscentile.

Any views on this?

Ciao
Snehit

Hello everyone,

I think most of us are messing up the problem solving section because we are not able to identify the sitters. Personally I have noticed that I tend to miss sitters because I do not read all the questions in quants........rather I do not get the time to read. Now on this forum I have come across posts where people mentioned that they were able to read all the questions. Can any of them clarify how one can finish reading 50 questions with 25/27 attempts in 40 mins ? What strategy are they following?

my instinctual accuracy is very poor. i think this strategy is unworthy of consideration as the cat is designed to prevent such cavalier behaviour....

Hi Neeraj,
why don't you cut down 5 minutes from each of the sections and then in the end spend that 15 minutes on the section which didn't go well.....

i think this is a common problem for most of us... have not yet arrived at a soln for this problem.... i think the best thing to do is that one shud be able to go thru all the questions in the quants part at least once...
