How much time to spend on RC in a full length paper? - 02-07-2004, 02:44 PM

I am having difficulty dividing my time in English section between rc and verbal part.
How much time should one spend in rc and how much in verbal in a full length test?
Consider both the cases i.e. papers having three and four sections.
What strategy are others following?
I understand that it would depend on how comfortable one is in these two sections and the relative toughness of the paper ...
But what is the general opinion?

If it's 4 section paper as it would be CAT 2004...assume VA=30, RC=30, QA= 45
DI/RS=45
The best time allocation would be 20, 25, 40, 35 respectively.

Assume that. You wouldn't loose anything.
IIM B will be setting the paper.

exactly my question............. i dont think anybody knowws who is gonna set paper.......... moreover i feel all iims together set paper not one iims............ and ya arnab it will depend on you how much time u shud spend on any section............ like i used to give 45 minutes to di 4o to qa and 35 to va/rc ............... it worked for me.......... basically in which section u r stronger u can take five minutes from that section and use it in the section u have problem................ still quite a time left in cat 2004 so try different strategies.............. and see for urself what suits you .

lokesh

ps- ghulam please dont spread any rumors.

2002 was IIM C. 2003 was L. The retest was A.

This 3 section thing has to go off. Can't have 5 times in a row. Has never happened before.

Again, I said assume that.

ok...it will be a 3 section paper.
I think it will help if u go prepared for both 3 section and 4 section.

what the hell is that? are u so naive to believe in everything?
mate, on d day u have to be prepared for anything, even jumbled.

still, there is high chance of a 4 section paper.
