Study Material - IMS/CF/TIME/CL/Brilliants -
22-06-2004, 06:15 PM
Hi Guys,
I am planning to join a correspondence course for CAT that wud give me sufficient material and test papers. How would you rate the study material offered by various institutes among IMS/CL/CF/TIME or even Brilliants.
I already have Time study material(last years) but I do not rate it very highly. I have heard good reviews abt IMS and CareerForum
My inquiries have led me to the following info:-
IMS - Regular- 4890/-( Includes 2 SIMCATS and 10 Full length tests)
IMS - Enhanced - 5890 ( Includes 8 SIMCATS and 10 Full length tests)
Career Forum - 4870 -( Includes 8 NCAT's and 15 FLT's)
Which one do u think is the best choice in terms of both Quality of material and the quantity of material offered ? I personally think CF would be good cuz it gives loads of tests along with other material. What do u guys think ?

hi,
this is sumanta. i was a student of CAREER FORUM this year and cleared each and every GD call including iim idr and k.
my sugestion is to go for Cf . you can obviuosly go for ims for its large student base but i doubt how useful that will be

Hi There
See till last year CF had these weird DI and DS section which was like from some high funda Commerce book not at all like CAT. And there English is much easier than CAT level, simply because they always give such short passages that you can almost attempt all 50 questions in the section everytime.
Material wise I will say IMS has no comparison and tests wise IMS although may not have very good quality tests like TIME (which gives you 18 All India Mocks), but the large student base that IMS has makes it worthwhile because you get a very good idea where you stand against the competition unlike CF which has at max 2000 people giving the test. TIME has around 9000 and IMS around 10000 to 12000.
In summary :
IMS Material by far the best
Test Series either TIME or IMS but not CF.
(Time has its first All India Mock Cat on 27 June 2004)

hi genius,
whatever be the material u have, u'r clarity of concepts, logical thinking and practice r those which make the difference.
my friend made it into all the 6 IIM's, XLRI,FMS by doing TIME material alone.i can say this very confidently.
it's all about u'r perseverance and dedication, and once u have them u can make it at any cost.
all the best.
Thanks a lot for ur replies but pls keep in mind that my question is only regarding the Study Material(both quality and quantity wise) and not in the test series, so to me it really doesnt matter how many students join that instt. I am anyway joining TIME test series but apart from that there is a need to get the right study material that wud give me sufficient practice...so just looking for inputs abt where wud I get quality material...in terms of more CAT-like material, more sectional tests with all levels of difficulty etc etc.
Sumant, Vipin: thx for ur honest opinions..We have one vote each for CF, CL and IMS till now
CATMAN :- I am aware that its my dedication and perseverance that counts in the end but I am jus lookin for tools that wud help me achieve my goal. Study Material ,Test Series, Faculty are all such tools...I jus want to know ur guys opinion abt the Study material offered by varios instt so as to get max practice and a better ROI.
