PS-8 (Hope I clear the cutoff)

VA didn't seem that tough while attempting...but it was a different story when I saw the answers. Got all SCs wrong. DI was okay but PS was a nightmare. After some consistent performances, my quant scores are experiencing a downward spiral.

DOUBTS: PLZ CHECK AND HELP

Question 58.Can 0^3=0 and 0^2=0 be considered as cubes n squares.The solution considers them so.I was undr the impression that 0 is not taken as a cube or square.What is the funda.......HELP

I have been viewing this thread since abt 1 pm but somehow didnt want to post my scores....abhi bhi samajh nahi aa raha acche se whether i did well in the simcat or not....the score relatively is good as i can see frm this forum, (though certain aces r yet to put scores..), but still not getting the feeling of coming out of the exam sure that I have done convincingly well....and inspite of maths emerging as a strong section in the first few simcats, since the last 2-3 ones, it has been troubling me a lot....so now its time for some introspection for me....

my scores at the end of my rant :P

VA - 20A 14C 6W total 20
DI - 18A 14C 4W total 23
QA - 13A 9C 4W total 12
OA - 55

Any takes on cutoffs...?

P.S. - @implex, u r rite dude, the answer to Q 58 shd also include 8. Also @linux, a perfect square is a square of an integer, since 0 is an integer, it works..though i misd this myself....

With 13 i thought the devil's luck wud strike!!!!

It did but in an unlucky fashion!!!

Dnt feel like checking other sections!!

VA - -2 Really curious to know what wud be my %ile ???

My 2 cents on the paper ::

WHile making a paper the setter has only one thing in mind that is to select 1% junta and leave 99% of them. Dividing a section into three subsections is a beautiful idea.! But keeping the Negative marking as 100 and 50% doesnt fit the scheme and makes a mockery of a student appearing for the test.

QA was absurdly tough with so many lengthy questions. Though a smart taker would have aimed to clear the 1/4 th barrier for this section but still the paper goes against the basic idea of a Balanced paper. Some sitters shud have been dre for the taking! I wondered why and how the Equilateral Trngle Q was a 1-marker set.

DI was okayish and it has been the trademark of IMS for long now. TOday i finally got the answer to high cut offs in DI . Person sitting besides me, Started with DI, did it for 45 mins i think,then he went to VA, did it for 45 mins. Went to QA for 20 mins i think. Came to DI and kept on solving it till the end. He had solved almost all the sets by 1:00 PM. so in short gave 85 mins to DI. :O

VA - dre shud have been no 1 markers in this section. INstead dre shud have been 2 markers with 0.5 negative and 1 RC with +3 -1.

Had a fever, but still went to the centre to take the paper, it was interesting with the different marking scheme and all.
Struggled through the DI and VA sections, and then came to QA, but couldn't concentrate at all , a tough QA section didn't help the cause either. took a lot of guesses - felt like leaving and coming home and thats just what i did. :wink1: wasted simcat 13 :(

Anyways just went through the DI paper, and have a doubt in question 46. How can the answer be 'cannot be determined'
5 people left at 6pm, so that implies that atleast 1 employee left ? because at max only 2 sweepers, or vistors can leave at the same time.
I didn't calculate but the above argument narrows down the answer to 1 or 2 or '1 or 2'.
Anyone with me ?
