i completely agree to ur thought..i actually was surprised to see a poll in this thread for selecting a captain..someone like rmbt/chuck should decide the captain..cos they know better who would suit better for the role..its like asking the indian players to choose their own team..im not blaming the newbies cos they voted for Indiana jones..we shouldnt have a poll in the first place!!the process of selecting the captain is flawed..

i want to iterate one thing..A captain should be someone is more visible to the whole team(obsessed scores 10/10 here).someone who shares a great rappo with the team members(obsessed scores 10/10 here again)..someone who was more regular to the meets last season(obsessed scores 10/10 here again)..someone who can inspire the team mates(not purely on mocks scores)..someone who has got prior experience in CAT/work(jones fits in here no doubt)..
one more thing why i suggested obesessed_about_mba is he has the experience of attending a few b school calls last season..he had a SPjain mumbai call and spjain dubai call..converting it is a different aspect altogether..he can give valuable inputs to us during the GD's/mock PI's we have after CAT..jones also fits into the b school thingy but he doesnt fit into the "text in bold"..for someone to come in and then establish a rappo is gonna take time..remember guys how much time it took for us to develop a good rappo..
guys selecting a captain is not jus for doing timepass and not till nov 16th..a captain is one who has experience and has to stand on till the last day(Read as the Day the IIM final admits are out next season)!!!
so my suggestion is look for a long term captain and not for someone who doesnt have enough experience and visiblity..that is why i was not interested to be a captain in the first place..i was surprised to see no one nominating obsessed as captain except me !if we are serious about the Chennai Dream Team lets go about it else i suggest lets write this plan off!

P.S : if we are selecting the captain from a poll im off the dream team for sure!

obsessed has been to more PG meets last season than indiana jones and shares a better bonding with us than jones..

Today morning i had posted to ask people who all they want to be a part of poll and no where was obsessed's name was appearing and hence i havent included his name, and everyone knows that i dont have any personal grudges with him. Again, what i wanted to say is that, yes till date Jones hasnt attended a single meet and is new to all of us, but u tell me how was the DT wroking last year. People were selected from accross the country, people who did not know about each other and from one of them a captain was selected and finally all of us know how well did JLT did and how well the Dream Team 2007 did.

im not against ppl voting for him nor do i have any personal grudge against him but being a captain is not purely based on the mock scores..the puy should have been to PG meets and should have a good bonding with the puys..lets not do it the same way the other cities are doing..lets try to inject some thought and have a unique way to selecting a captain..this is my opinion..if ppl still feel its not worth it voting can go on..if being a captain is purely based on mock scores and prev CAT perfomances im sorry im opting out of this dream team..
so if some newbie tomorrow posts a mock score of 99.xx u guys will make him the captain is it???
A Captain should have more visibility..its like making ishanth sharma the captain in the next tour jus cos he was successfull in the last tour!!

I want a solid justification from someone on why obsessed_about_mba wasnt included in the poll..

P.S : if u still persist that the captain be made ur way(i.e purely on mocks scores) u can remove my name form the DT list.i second nishath on this thoughts.

Again i dint select Jones because of his good performance in one of the mocks, if you see his previous attempts, he has got good scores in last three attempts at CAT and i would say he has been a consistent performer and has good knowledge about the exam. As said he has been taking CAT since 2005 which means he has as good as experience as ravi or obsessed have.

There was a time when i was attending my 1st meet in Chennai, but i was accepted and after a couple of meets i had a good rapport with all puys in Chennai.I think we can build personall rapport with jones and all of us can have a bonding with him post 2 meets as much as i have with obsessed (for a matter of fact, i have met obsessed only a couple of times, and in the whole junta only ravi, myself, rungta,george and maverick know who is obsessed, am i wrong in saying that??). Our team majorly would consist of people who havent attended many PG meets in Chennai and i dont see any harm in Jones being selected as the captain

Finally i would just say that i hope the best man wins, and hope whoever wins takes charge of this battle called CAT 2008

dream team never even met every week!!!
accoring to the league rules we should be meeting every week..shouldnt we??
and monster wat are u talking abt rappo?did u have a good rappo with me/other puys jus 2 times after u met me/other puys??i dont think so..we met almost 4 to 5 times a week and that is why we had/have a good rapport...the rappo i shared/share with the puys was not just after one/two weeks..it took almost 4 to 5 months for it to develop..and how many months do we have for CAT???one more thing wen ur adding a poll ur the one who is supposed to look at the profiles and post the cadidates name on the poll!!!!how can u ask ppl for suggesting names on the poll??instead of this we could have straight away posted saying so and so can be captain..y do we need a poll then??

Ofcourse this is a rule, and then jones is supposed to come to all such meets. And if he doesnt, then there is no question of making him the captain of the team.

i dont see any harm in Jones profile, i think he has the best profile amongst us all ( if u are talking in terms of CAT). I added the poll because i was the only one except the mods who could have started a poll as i started the thread and that was the reason i was asking people to tell me who all they want me to make a part of the poll.

Regarding rapport, as i said major junta is new, so for them me, u , obsessed, maverick and jones are the same.

Ok guys, I think we are overplaying this captain thing a bit. First of all chuck the thoughts of leaving the team over the captaincy issue, OUT OF THE NEAREST WINDOW.

If there is such a problem amongst the team members on deciding who the captain should be, then let us have no captain at all. Let the coach or the manager act as non playing captains for a few weeks. After a few mocks when some players attend meets as well as mocks and prove their mettle on the field, then we can go for a playing and performing captain. If we go solely by past performances then I think there is a wide difference of opinion here.

Main AIM here is to crack CAT and help our peers as well in this quest. If some issues are preventing this, then let us chuck them aside and concentrate on the main GOAL. Hope I have made things clear.

But what is happening right now is not giving a very good impression about this team. It seems more like a group of people rather than a 'team'. Such things should best be decided by nomination rather than election. Slugging it out in the open is simply not the right thing to do.

A captain is one who should be able to inspire and motivate the team members - either by leading by example or by Motivating others simply by talking to people. (Or by both even). So discuss this issue with care. And yeah, the person who is the captain should be experienced.

Chennai team along with the Delhi team is one of the favorites. Please try and live upto to the expectations we have from you guys

Lets not argue further on this. A thing done is done. Now lets try seeing what can be done now. I would suggest along with the four puys in the poll,obsess and rmbt join together and start a chat conference and you people decide who among you 5 can be best captain or you 5 can make a post here as how you can prove to be the best captain. Let rmbt decide the best person.

Also you 5 nominated captains can nominate one captain(apart from u) then the person with more number of votes+ rmbt's decision shall do the rest.

no hard feelings..my withdrawal has got nothing to do with the captain scene..i feel il be better off paying self attention..i have edited my nomination post..no one motivates me more than me myself !im out of the Chennai Dream Team..
i still would be cheering the chennai junta and of course coming to the PG meets ..
