Hostel in not compulsory if you are married. So plan accordingly whether you want the hostel or not!!

I knew of exactly one person with a desktop in my year (2006-08... sheesh)... Laptops are easier to handle and the bulk deal is pretty good.

1. The required work ex for laterals was 22 months for last year. I am not sure if any company requires a work ex of 30 months. Will have to confirm it with the placement committee.
2. Sorry, but no refrigerators in rooms

First up, heartiest congratulations to all the people who've made it to IIMB.
Mine was the last CAT Regn. no. in Table 1 of the IIMB PGPM admission document ( 9650348 ). But still not able to believe it. Can somebody please check it up to confirm that I'm not in a reverie.

Here's my profile:

Name - Prakash Deep Maheshwari

Undergrad stream - Computer Science
Place - IIT Roorkee
Currently - Enjoying the last few days of grad life
Hometown - Lucknow (anyone from thr in the 08-10 or the senior batch???)

Queries:
1. When exactly do we apply for the loans? Is the loan application form sent along with the admission letter? And how much time does it take to get approved?

2.Is the bulk purchase of laptops made once we reach the campus? Typically, how many days after it? And do I need to make a cash payment for it?

3.Is a motorized vehicle advisable considering the proximity of the lecture halls and cafes (as i read in other posts) and the notorious traffic of Bangalore? How good is public transportation in B'lore?

Answering ur qstns
1. applns for loans are sent along with the admission leeter and the details too r pretty clear on how to go bout it..not to worry bout that.there r tons of banks ready to give loans to potential account holders;-)

2. Am not too sure of how the funda of the bulk deal works cos i didnt avail of it myself last yr..but i remember receiving details bout it too with the admission letter..

3. A motorized vehicle would be preferable if ur comin to B..that way I ' d be able to borrow it from u whenever the need arises

regarding the laptop deals-
The computing club SIGMA will send out a mail to the yahoo groups giving all the details.
You will have to book your laptop(there may be two models offered) and pay the DD for the same once you reach campus.
The laptops reached us within one week of joining last year.
Not to worry,SIGMA will give the necessary details shortly
