Awaiting your reply...

I firmly believe that both IIMB and C are equally good institutes...Very little to choose between the two though our opinions will be biased towards B definitely Coming to your question, we have an Entrepreneur with a rich workex of almost 10 years who is sure of starting his own business post his MBA at IIMB. He will be able to give u a better picture of how it will help u if u come to IIMB. If you want, i can send across his email id to you in a personal message cos posting email ids on forum might not be appropriate.

Cheers,
Saurabh

I understand your dilemma dude...Well, i will concentrate on the pros of IIMB and not talk abt IIMC as it is not right on my part to comment abt an insti i am not a part of. IIMB has a few distinct advantages. the fact that Bangalore is an industrial hub goes a long way in increasing industry interface and interaction. IIMB boasts of some of the best faculties- particularly in the field of strategy. Placement wise- IIMB had really good placements with amongst the best PPO conversion rate...only A had similar numbers. IIMB batch profile is pretty diverse...pretty heavy on workex as well as backgrounds which goes a long way in helping u learn from your peers.IIMB strikes a proper balance between acads and sports. U will never find the insti with a laid back approach and that gets reflected in the fact that despite being established pretty late ( almost 12 yrs after A and C), it is rated pretty highly by all recruiters..infact there are hardly any recruiters which didn't come to B and went to A and C.I think u can ask ur friends as well. Every year quite a few students have B and C calls and face a similar dilemma. U can ask them, try to get the number of students who opted for B and who opted for C and u will get your answer

Cheers,

hi all,

great to know there are at least some people sports enthu people joining IIM-B this year. As Dilip mentioned we have a rich tradition in sports and won all the 3 cups (Sangarsh vs A, Samhar vs C and Sangram vs K) by convincing margins. Looking forward to meet all of u in campus and in the freshers meet if u people are in Mumbai.
Any clarifications related to sports, shoot.

Wasn't sure about posting here yet coz i'm still getting nightmares that the list put up on the IIMb site is a hoax nd I haven't got through actually.. but couldn't resist the temptation.

And did I smell a Blues fan here??

It was actually a hoax. Just that with the delay of the results, IIMB chose to celebrate 1st April a little late. The correct list will be released sometime soon.

And as my friend pointed out, Man U it is to B!!

Did I see someone cribbing about non-academic (read enlightening) discussion on this thread??

Thanks Saurabh for your clarification on the batch composition......

On another note - i saw your reply to a query about the Aditya Birla Scholarship. Isnt this scholarship applicable through all the IIMs? If so, then a guy who is in the top 25 should be in the top 25 irrespective of which IIM he chooses to join right?

Please let me know what i am missing here......

Sukrut!

1. Photography club - Yes. User discreetion is required.

2. Monthly expenses - Depends on your propensity to consume.

3. Gym - Are there. (Get used to IIMB lingo and say 'are' for every damn thing). IIMB has also been witness to people keeping tread mills in their room. Though that is not to give indication of size of the room per se.

4. L-squares are free as long as you have a good friend who's ready to securitize your future cash flows and then writes off the bad debt later.

Ok.. Lots of queries... Lets answer them one by one....
  • DD for Rs. 30,000 and docs are to be sent by courier. Will they accept by hand?
Ans:- There should not be any reason for them not to accept by hand.
  • Is there a photography club in IIMB?
Ans:- There is no official photography club as of yet but some of the PGP2s have formed an informal group ( You will get to know about it once you join the campus)
  • What is the duration of break between terms?
Ans:- One week duration between terms in first year.
  • Approx expenses apart from fees ( per month.)?
Ans:- This is very subjective I guess. I will leave it for others to answer.
  • Is there a gym in IIMB? (for reasons stated above ) And can one expect some free time to use it?
Ans:- Yes. There is a gym in IIMB (though there are few students who make use of it). As for free time, I am sure you will manage :??:.
  • Is buying laptop from the bulk deal a good idea in terms of after sales service?
Ans:- The bulk deal for laptop is pretty good and gives good value for your money. After sales service is not much of a issue. I would recommend you to wait for the deal and see whats on offer. If you don't like it, you can always buy one on your own.
  • Are all L - squares free?
Ans:- L - squares are always free but unfortunately the drinks are not.
