A contractor had employed 100 labourers for a flyover construction task.
He did not allow any woman to work without her husband.Also atleast half the women working came with their
husbands.He paid five RS. per day to each man,4 rupees to each woman and 1 Rupee to each child .He gave out 200 rupees every evening

How many men women and children worked with the contractor?

Do u think question is correct ???
In first sentence it says no woman allowed to work without her husband and in second sentence it says atleast half the women came with their husbands????

I think there are more than 1 possibility to this question..

i) we can have 21Men,21Women and 11 children(may be girl or boy. I considered as girls as nothing is specified about them.). so total will be
21*5+21*4+11*1 = 105+84+11 = 200

ii) we can have 20 Men,20 women and 20 children which also gives the total sum as 200.

iii) we can have 22 men,22 women and 2 children then also the condition gets satisfied.

in all the cases the women working with their husbands is more than half of the total women.

Please tell me whether my reasoning is correct or not. If not please explain in detail...

Hi All,

I am hari kishan. Graduated from GVP college , Vizag in 2007. Currently Working at CSC , Hyderabad since a year. Last year i gave CAT Disqualified in QUant. This year , cant afford to get screwed again. Give Mock Cat's At TIME.
I am not that good in DI. But i am good in RC's. Also, have to practice more in Quant.

Any suggestions on how to prepare well for Quant and DI , i would be grateful.

My problem is a quite opposite to yours. I have problem with the verbal ability & RC. I can do well in DI and QA. For DI and Qa please go through the basics from TIME material. I think thats enough. Please answer the problem in the maximum number of ways that you can using all the concepts. And check out your performance consistently with the mock cats. Think and think about the reasoning involved in the question that you have not attempted or got wrong in the mock. Then look at the solution and see that it does not repeat the next time. And u can go through the quant book by arun sharma. it is also a good book and there are a lot of problems to solve. Please go ahead and practice. And please suggest me some ways to improve my verbal and RC.

Hi pavan,

Its a good idea to an MBA. Even i am also preparing for CAT this year. But i dont know much about MBBS students life in MBA schools. To my knowledge there will not be any difference between an Engg student and MBBS student. But it may take some time for you guys to understand the basics thoroughly. As far as coaching is concerned you can join in TIME or Career Launcher and IMS institutes. These institutes are the all equally good. For a beginner i think Career Launcher would be the best. This is only my opininon. Do some research by going through their websites and take a wise decision.
