My IMI experience
Venue-IMI
Date-15-02
Slot-9:00 am

It started with an essay on "advantages of co-ed".
Majority went with the topic.
But soon fell short of points. Overall a bad essay would rate myself 4/10
Then came the performa.Very less time to fill this.
I had the first interview in my panel so had to fill it in a jiffy.(nyways they didn't ask any questions on that).
Then came the GD."trade can help the poor."
Easy topic everyone voted for it.
Pretty decent GD not a fish market at all.
Made some good enteries and was pretty satisfied with the GD performance.

But then came the shocker.
Panel consisted of a young guy(Y 99 imi passout) 1 very old Prof(VO) and an old prof(O)
I was the first in the panel
VO:So how do you rate your GD.
ME: (smiling) Above Average.
VO:But y did you say that WTO Talks Failed(abe yeh kya bol raha hai...itne sare points mein se 1 yehi mila tha???)
Me:explained everything about US not agreeing to terms
VO:Then you should have said that negotiations failed
MEgayi bhains pani mein ...talks and negotiations)
VO:OK tell me about youself starting from senior sec ACADS
ME: told...school college job...
VO:good ..very good...(then cuts me short)
Why MBA?
Me:standard ratta hua ans.
Yfirst entry) So why leave job after just 7 months of work ex
Me: told ..standard ans again..no cross questioning
Y: OK tell me your job profile at your co's
Me:told
VO:so do you have to pay them any money if you leave the job.
Me: yes 50k...
VO:what 50k and you are ready to pay that amount
OK why is there so much poverty in delhi ...so much disparity and your co is contributing to it.
MEmar gaya yaar ...yeh kya bol raha hai ...meri co to CSR mein believe karti hai)Sir I need a min to think
VO:OK..so what all calls you have.
Me :started with MDI
VO:MDI won't give you a call at your %ile(SHIT yaar ise to pata hi nahin hai ki MDI ne reduce kar diya hai ...aaramj se bach sakta tha)
OK now what ever i ask I promise wont affect your interview.
Which college will you join if given a preference.
ME: told...half fraank ..half lies....
Sir can 1 revert back to your question of disparity.
VO: No...sometimes silence says a lot for itself(abe 1 min ka time hi to manga tha)...OK again i promise it won't affect your interviw.
you gave cat last year ...your score your calls...
ME: told
VO:thats a good improvement....
you can leave now...
ALL in ALL a very bad experience had the interview for just 7-8 mins....
Still can't think of what went wrong...

hey puys....me thru wid my GD/PI at IMI....it waz fine...badly screwed in PI...initially dere waz an essay....d topic was "food first,ethics later"...dunno y majority went wid dis topic....thn had a decent GD....10 ppl sum 15 mins....so it waz fine...d topic was "MNC's r devils in disguise".....but was grilled in PI...dere's a faculty at IMI...prof Singhvi...if he is ur PI panel thn guys u better b prepared for sum tough questions....im currently pursuing by B.Tech from Maharaja surajmal institute of tech.....so i had a 5 min interview in which d frst 4 mins i was asked questions bout maharaja surajmal...n if im not wrong i said "im sorry i dont know" 6 times.....so IMI no chance dis yr....ATB puys(any odr queries jst msg me puys)

hi everyone...

i had my GD/PI today at 1 pm slot..... i know i am late enough but still it will be helpful to some


for a general purpose be ready for surprises.... i will tell you why?


first went the essay and the topic was " CORRUPTION IS THE PRICE WE PAY FOR DEMOCRACY" DECENT topic and i rate myself 8/10


then we have a gd we have the topic which is very vague
the topic was"educational diversity in b-school: blessings of learning and sharing.... after listening to the topic we are just thinking that we should go with this topic or not but the panel was in hurry so he told us time starts now and we are left with vry less points.... made entry 3-4 times and think that same thing is repeated again and again in the gd.. no fish market as the topic was very vague.. even 4 students donot utter a single word and the panel at the end asked them to summarise....

then came the main thing that is PI

in gd we have a panel of three but later an alumni joined them who does most of the screwing...
waited for my number for 1:30 hrs....

went in

no reply as they are not interested in wishes

without any wastage of time a question errupts

tell me something about the institutes you have taken coaching....
what they teach u and had it helped u in ur life?
which newspaper u read?
tell me the name of the editor of that newspaper?

i named ambani brothers and aziz premji...
then from when ambani brothers are working?
when did dhirubhai ambani got paralysed?
what is common between them?
three indian companies u admire most?
which is the company who have largest employment head in the world?
clue is that it is an indian company....
i told infosys

that was wrong
they gave me choices.....
indian railways or indian postal services.....
then they say thankyou.......

i just want to enquire from the seniours what would i think after that kind of interview where nothing was related to me ........

reached colosseum...things got late....so v had to wait...1.20...essay started...15 mins...and over....topic whch i didnt like ( i liked none of them actually ), did i tell u v had to choose frm 2...??...anyway..."corruption is the price v pay for democracy"....i kept wondering abt wat to write and wen i started i guess it was too late.:lookroun:...anyway....
result : SCREWED

1 alumni A, himadri das...( the 10 pointer frm iit-d) HD, professor P....and ME

topic was green development is the real development
it was an ok gd...v knew wat v were supposed to say and it was quite organised...i chipped in with 3 points and was basically listening and appreciating people..
got noticed
result : GOOD

and here v go...final stage....the interview

before that i m a small town brown boy.....87.6, 78.6 in 10th and 12 th resp....
dropped for engg...didnt make it to iits...dropped the idea of engineering...pursuing B.A. (p) correspondence...yeah yeah....but well i have 11 mnths experience in WIPRO BPO.
( i dnt think i really stand a chance amongst the techies but guyz i m game..)

me: well i have 1, but it didnt go with this dress and i didnt want to look stupid in the frst management intvw of my life ( grin again ):razz:

me: ( i knew it was my last chance and i was prepared)...well i can sing pretty well...and i m sure i ll b quite hndy in the fests, i m completely different frm the lot..in terms of academics..so i ll add diversity to the crowd...and i ve an undergrad experience...and i gues i ve just come off age a lil...and dat can prove very helpful for me and my peers...i m creative so...i m ready for any challenge that comes up...

Had the first GD/PI of this season today... It was quite a pleasant experience.. here I go

venue....IMI, delhi
Date is : 16 th feb , 1 pm batch

All the call getters were put in 4 batches.. under 4 diff panels...

The first thing we had was a presentation about IMI.
Then we moved on to the essay..

The first topic that came out was " Corruption is the price we pay for Democracy"... and exactly 50 % of the people voted for it.. so a re-voting was done to decide,, and finally we all decided to go with this topic..
and this was a piece if cake..

Then the Panel 1 batch was called and taken to the room where the GD was supposed to happen..
We were 8 in our group with only 1 girl.. ie me

The topic chosen by our group was " Educational diversity in b-school: blessings of learning and sharing " (oh Y oh Y dint everyone object)
It was a very dry and vague topic..even the panels were quite bewildered and bored..
The GD happened in an extra civilized manner with everybody who was speaking was listened to and given time to finish what they were saying as hardly there was anything to say.. The points started repeating and it got banal.... The time alloted for GD was exactly 10 mins..

We were then taken to a waiting room and the PI session started..
I was the 5th one..

the panelists were 1. An alumnus (A), an org behavior prf (OB) , A strategy prof (SP) , IT system prof (IT) and me (M)

I entered.. and they were finally happy to see atleast one girl.. and they actually asked me if i was comfy being the only girl..

First OB asked me to comment on my GD performance and I modestly did that and then i was asked to brief the GD by the alumnus and some Qs on gd..

Then i was asked was I sure of getting into HR and y do i want to do hr.. (all were asking me simultaneously)
m: blah blah
SP: what other calls have you got
M: blah
OB/SP : am I sure of HR:
M: yes
SP: is someone mentoring you?
M: blah
A: name the person (interjecting in the middle of some answer i was giving)
M: named the person
SP: Name 2 strengths and weaknesses (and grilled me on that)
M: I did... getting grilled... lol
A: Why do u think I should get a technical person into HR when i can get an arts one?
M: i gave all the justification
A: Asked me something about trainings in an organization?
M: Gave them the fundas I knew.. lol
OB: So what do you do in your leisure time?
M: Told them everything..and they were all laughing..

Overall i guess it went for half an hour atleast... and was very chilled out...
a lil grilling here and there was present but good otherwise it wud have becum boring...
The entire process was very smooth right from the entry into the college..
And i must say very sweet and cordial adcom people.. Got the chance to interact with a few of them and they gave us nice tips..
We were also told the panelists were the sweetest profs in the college.. and they actually were..Santa sorts... i was very happy..

And yeah.. I did get to meet the very famous nikhil (aka the computer bot) and was very glad to see him.
And now am keeping my fingers crossed!!

i am sumeet. remember in ur batch i had a very unexpected interview and just hoping for the best...... i also personally feel we should have changed our topic in gd but i think the panel didnt even gave us time to think.....

It was absolutely hassle free.. totally felt at ease.. Thank u soo much.

But there just a lil suggestion.. instead of keeping normal GD topics.. esp for HR, one could have gone for case studies... I feel that actually could have been relevant and could have actually been substantial in exploring one s maturity and outlook.
Otherwise.. great efforts for making us feel comfy!!
