CAT 2007 Discussions: DI & Logical Ability Section

Please use this thread to discuss the Data Interpretation and Logical Ability area of CAT 2007..

A relevant poll for the scores shall be put up when the answer keys of at least 3 to 4 leading institutes (preferably, TIME, IMS and CL/CF) are known.. I would sincerely request u all to vote responsibly, preferably taking average of the scores obtained from the 3-4 keys, as the poll above would serve as a fair benchmark for one and all till the results are officially out.. you may post your scores as per various keys in the thread, but polling the average is desirable..

Another issue is, the poll options would deliberately be made wider than that in mocks in order to cater to larger strata of CAT takers, and get a fair and realistic normal distribution curve..

So here we go.. ATB, Puys!


A humble request: Help us all maintain the sanctity of this thread - please avoid posting pre-CAT comments and feelers, wishes, speculations et al..

PPS: A poll is been added for the sectional DI score.. please make sure you have calculated your scores with one or more of the 3-4 leading coaching institutes' keys.. I guess most of them would be pointing to the same answers..

Di was the toughest i have ever seen, or may be i picked up the wrong sets and i misinterpreted 1 set.
all n all, it was a disaster..
all my presumptions everything is gone!

I selected A to J fight wala some. I dont kno why people found DI easy.
I hope people has considered both parameters route and cost. As i found many ppl has not read questions properly as each question was tricky in A to J wala DI.
Coz answer for lowest cost using lowest route was highest among given options.
Some may hv forgot to cut cost price by 10%! As far as it was difficult and lengthy for me.

Then jumped to Cost sheet wala sum. attempted only 1 question from it.

Then saw male to veg ration sum. Cudnt able to interpret the data so had to left.

I missed Operations/currency rate wala question due to lack of ime heard it was doable.

ALso goofed up badly in Carbohydrae wala sum.

Overall DI was lengthy and tricky for me.

I believe cut off will be around 34-36 as all found it easy.

So no chance of clearing this section!

I have a doubt in the DS question on Mahindra & Mahindra football match..

I think the answer can be found using both options together, but not either of the options alone.. But the keys on various sites say otherwise.. Only one key is consistent with my answer..

Can someone shed some light on this?

For that DS Question the Answer should be determined by both as they have given that the opponent scored 4 Goals so that means match was a tie

i think the answer is choice 5...

consider the scenarios 1 and 2.

1. M&M is trailing by 0-3 in first half.....with the data in the two statements, the match wud b a tie at 4-4.

2.M&M is trailing by 1-4 in first half.....now M&M wil win by 5-4....

so nothin can b derived from both the statementss....

with both the statements - there are 2 possibilities for final score:

mahindra - 4, opp - 4
mahindra - 5, opp - 4

so ans shd be - 5
