I need your help and guidance in deciding on a test series given by various coaching institutes. I would like to put in the context as to why I am asking this. Last Sunday I went to give free mock CAT given by PT. I think it was very tough paper, and it was no where near the CAT or any other exam. That’s why I have decided to go for TIME or IMS test series and need your help in deciding.
Puys I would like to know about, how the test series given by TIME and IMS fare on following parameters:-
1)How close is the style / content of question papers as compared to CAT, I mean as it is evident from last two years the difficulty level of quant and DI is not that high in CAT.
2)What is the variation in the mock cats in the test series i.e. change in number of questions / sections from which questions are asked etc. in each test. I mean that a test series should also prepare us to deal with the unpredictability of CAT pattern.
3)How realistic is the percentile position provided by the institute
Your thoughts and inputs would be of immense help to me. I know that as evident from poll results on this threads TIME is clear favorite, but i want to know what makes the test series of TIME or IMS good?

As far as i know from my experience on PG, most aspirants prefer TIME mocks and feel they are the closest that any insti can get to the actual CAT. but then again its based on personal experiences and you might think differently.
If you ask me then i have joined PT for both coaching and mocks coz
(1) Its the closest to my house so i dont spend a lot of time travelling
(2) It has a large student base so you are competing against many ppl which is a good thing
(3) In my city (ahmedabad) they are the best known. TIME is good too. CL is almost unknown to most here so one more reason why i chose PT
regarding the first mock yes i agree it was a toughie. i myself have scored only 9marks OA so nothing to cheer about. but then if u look at it positively then it removed all the harmful overconfidence that one might have developed in the silly sectional tests n weekly tests
Regarding ur questions about TIME and IMS i would let some more experienced puy answer that. but keep one thing in mind dat whichever test series u join, in the end wat matters is how you develop ur strategy for the C-day and how well u analyse and learn from ur mistakes. If u strive hard then success is yours.
hope it helped:happy:
kudos
