The Official PaGaLGuY Counselling Thread for CAT 2007 -
16-09-2007, 05:46 PM
1) My mock scores are fluctuating. Waht do I do?
2) What should I concentrate on in the remaining time?
3) Which are the important topics I concentrate on?
These and many such queries we see all around the forum.. Many a times new threads are opened by the n00bs for these queries. So we thought why not start a new thread exclusively for such queries.. A thread which will be a one-stop option for all general queries regarding to CAT, XAT, SNAP etc..
For this thread we would require a few qualified people who are ready to spend a few minutes in solving these queries. So a request to B-schoolers and non- BSchoolers with proven CAT records to come forward and join this thread. A time to give something back to PaGaLGuY
So do I have the support of the qualified CAT junta? If yes then please spread the word about this thread.. Whenever you see a n00b or any other person asking about queries please direct him/her to this thread.
I am starting this thread assuming that I will get a considerable support from everyone... A few months back we had conducted some counselling on ShoutBOX. This thread will be on the similar lines. Expect your wholehearted support
PS: The queries will be mundane and may not sound as too important for everyone, but try keeping yourself in the shoes of the anxious aspirant and try to answer as many queries as each one of you can

Ok puys - your first stupid query comes up.
I started preparing for cat in march but since I'm from a non maths back ground , my quant is not up to scratch but other aspects r quite good . Mock scores are ranging anywhere between 70 and 90 percentile , totally depending on the paper and level of quant in it.
I really want to get some consistency into my quant scores as other sections I clear the 95% ile mark with ease.
How do I get a grip on my quant and which topics are generally considered very scoring which I could oncentrate on as don't have anything known as a plus point in maths.

hey!
continuing with tanveer sir quoted! Another article has appeared today i.e 17th in education times only...it is the continuation of the last week's article! here goes the main points that i think you should follow!
there are six blocks in QA and not 20-25 chapters
the first block comprises numbers and progressions,
second block comprises AVerages and alligations
third block comprises ratio, profit n loss,TSD,Work,Ci/SI,%ages,4th block---- GEometry n mensuration,
5th---- Equations,log....6th-Pnc n probability....
Pick up a block pick up any funda book n be through with the concepts
revision n flowcharting-Flowcharting means that while reading a particular question you shud be able to frame in mind the approach towards getting the right answer
expose urself to as many problems as u can from that block
Also blocks 1,3,4,5 are enough to give u 96%ile,cut off for IIM-A
hope it helps!!
regards!
