No one is alone in this world, I'm there to give u company ...... appeared for CAT in 2002,2003,2004 ....got calls each year too ..... 2002 - A,C,L .... no converts ....2003 - B,L,I,K ......... no converts .... 2004 - BLACKI .... let's hope for the best .... so, never give up hope .... where there's a will there will always be a way ....

Here is my story,
I guess IIMs are not lucky enough to have me

Nov 2002 -> Stuck wid the RCs . VA did me in. 77% in VA. Overall something 96%ile. no hopes
Nov 2003 -> My best MBA entrance exam ever (including mocks) . I come out of the hall just to hear that some Mr. Ranjit Don was all set to kill my hopes to get into the IIMs
Feb 2004 -> Dont want to remember. A procession outside my centre killed me. Overall 90%ile
Nov 2004 -> Was expecting something around 53. Got 44. Maybe I should not have attempted hockey set . 96.84 %ile.

Hmmmm...that makes it 0/4 attempts.

Well, there is more to life than CAT. Have decided to give my best shot to FMS, XL, IIFT. If I have to get to an MBA college in this life, It has to be in this year

My story!!!

Nov 2003: No pressure, was in my pre-final year... Regularly wrote mocks with min being 95% Had decent idea abt how to attempt the paper... Attempted 87. Net score 55 (with 1/4) ! Very low accuracy u see!!!

Feb 2004: No pressure absolutely... Just went like that... Totally out of practise. Got stuck up in maths, forgot about other sections and ended up giving 45+ mins to quant. Attempted the frustrum question, got it wrong! Went on to Eu and attempted 29 only, reason... Tried to mugup the RC's in those 20 mins... Out of practice u see!!! Less than 35 mins left, and still the OMR was blank. LOL, all the answers in Question paper... Started marking them! 9 more minutes... Reason... no tension, no pressure.. afterall bahut time hai!!! Arnd 25 mins left now and the whole DI section... thought I'll be quick now... Solved some 3-4 sets in quick time... 15 mins remaining... Went to the countries set where ranks were to ba calculated... Time for shortcut, so tried calculated ranks in my mind. OOPS, forgot! Started again... OOPS again. Thought this will be my last try!!! Got it wrong this time.... Marked the closest option. Next question again on the ranks... Oh my god! Not again... Started counting again... abhi bhi akal nahin aayi!!! In the end, gave 8+ minutes to the set and got 2/4 wrong... Now, last 5 mins remaining, tried the arrangement question in LR... Alrdy under lot of pressure, could'nt solve it.... Kept trying... and ended up making 2 nearly wild guesses...

End result, net score of 50.33! 11.66 in DI

Nov 2004: Decided on 40-30-50 strategy to maximize chances.. Stuck with even though Quant was easy... Result, 13.66 score in quant. But 5 calls, felt satisfies in the end. Even though the wait was agonizing!!!

Thats my story... Did'nt elaborate this years part... Thats very interesting though, maybe next time....

I have attempted Cat twice.
In 2003, was busy applying for MS, just wrote it gave it a shot,
got 80 percentile.
This year, studied best i could with all the pressure in training at infy, but managed only 90 percentile. But thought i did really badly, so its ok.
I'm moving upwards, lets see. Have to get thro in 2005.
Any of the top skools.

Looks like a thread made for me ... Well my first tryst with CAT was Nov 2003 -- a totally forgettable experience ... Then came the Re Cat of Feb -- did to the best of my limited ability - got 98.2 % with a call from IIM -- Lucknow.. Did well in the GD but messed up the Interview... Got very frustrated - took a job and this time wrote CAT jus for the heck of it ... Got 95%ile(a score artificially propped by a 99.8% in verbal).. well planning 2 write CAT next year with full josh and also exploring the possibilities of studying abroad... Hope i stay away from this thread next year
