the best and the worst question paper in this session - 23-12-2006, 11:04 PM

well as the topic suggests i am asking for the guy to pitch in their views about the question paper which was best designed and the ones which had major flaws. the entries can also be more than one:

I havent given all the papers but from the ones i have given these are the best and worst

best set papers:

1. NMAT ( NARSEE MONJEE )

reason: the paper was well balanced... and i guess they designed the paper well

worst:

1. IIFT ( this paper wins hands down )

reason: well i can go on and on about it..... but i will let ur imagination run wild... type whatever u feel like

2. CAT

reason: obviously cause of the errors and va section... already discussed and scrutinized in other threads...

So guys u also pitch in with ur views

Hi fire_kris

I have some questions for u

1) shdnt we wait till all exams r over ... maybe XAT will be worse
2) wot exactly do we achieve by this discussion ? is it so imp to be put in the CAT section?

my take .. seriosuly dont know ...
y wd insti's or any1 care how a paper is?
As in IIM's wanted to set such a paper .. they set it .. its their wish ..

As students we have be prepared for anything ...
Who told u a test paper needs to be well balanced ...
who told u qa shd be tough or easy ... or shd a paper be well balanced
its all on the whim's and fancies of the insti's

So in the end .. does it matter which paper was the worst
Just cross u r fingers u crack most of them .. however they are ....

ATB for all ur results ... think abt cracking the next exam ...
Not how bad the prev paper was

hi mate i am not being critical... i was just analyzing... and trust me since coming to paagalguy i have only learnt one major thing.... analysis or discussion.... this broadens ones perspective... and yeah i am preparing for other papers as well.... i only spend my free time over here.... i am not here all the time.... and when XAT comes my list might broaden....

i m not having a dig at other papers... jus giving my opinions and want others to give theirs as well .... i hope i am clear with what i am saying....

and when i say a paper was balanced or bad... i might differ with others... and its jus my opinion as i said its my best or worst....

Stop comparing one paper/college from another.
What is the use of this thread? To vent out your frustration?

Try and prepare for other exams and do well in those!

ok.... mahip i wouldnt quarrel on this.... but this is the general perception made out here.... i am not venting out my frustration..... it was just a kind of discussion... i wrote the BEST and the worst paper as well... so cant really understand if its frustration....

just for the record i have got a call from IIFT... so there is no case of frustration here..... gosh... i guess if this thread is making so much of noise without any actual input.... it would be better if u just close it... or tell me how to do that....

I think he wanted a discussion as to what did the students think about the various tests, and their respective strengths/flaws, if any. I see nothing wrong in that.

Why should papers from various B-schools not be compared?...When they all are the first step in B-school selection pricedure. Don't we have B-school comparisions, their placement records comparision, their extra-currics comparison etc.?

To say that sole purpose of this thread is to vent out frustration is not appropriate. His first post gave a good hint that he wanted participants to analyze the merits of the papers, and not give him free advice as to what should he do going ahead.
