Hi,

I have a question about which I have read a lot, but I think the replies have come from the wrong people. You could be the right person to answer

What is generally the cut-off for a person having a good academic record plus 3 years of experience? Does this duration of work experience benefit in getting a call from any IIM?

Regards,
Sachin

3 years work experience is a huge plus. u can get all 6 calls even for early 99s and sometimes even late 98s. I know ppl who had A calls last year with 98.9x.
Best of luck for the preparation.

its a great adavantage to have a good accad and good work ex really helps in pulling the cut offs down .. given ur profile u can expect calls in late 98. and early 99.+ and have decent chance of making it through

Dear Seniors,

I have 6 years & 4 months of experience as of now ( By Dec 31st it will be 79 Months as an Asst Manager - Sales in a reputed IT company, very niche market & personally handling 3 states under me)..Many of my coontacts suggest me to take up GMAT..Wherein Iam keen to do it from IIMB (Personal Reasons)..My question is ..I have 61.5% in 10th std, 89% in 12 th std, 58.4% in Engg:( :( :( ..Now with this 6+ yrs exp & such a bad acads, what is my chances of getting a call at low percentile ..Qtn 2: will there be academic questions during GD/PI(Iknow its pretty early to ask this ..Still) or will it be a matured discussion sort of....Basically what is the weightage of my 6+ yrs of exp ...Does IIMs consider the fact that a fresher can prepare better for CAT than a guy like as I don't find time to do the same ( Iam married with a chota Kid)...Request your explanations...

Hey beherark
A gud initative... though a lil delayed.... that's coz... a lot of ppl were having a lot of doubts... and now that they have sent their forms to the respective IIMs... it becomes all the more difficult to get those mistakes rectified... And hence... u can find a lot many threads on the same thing... from various eager and tensed souls ....
Ne'ertheless... its gonna be helpful for those arround who are yet to send the form...

As for me... I have one big doubt...
My universtiy doesn't give any % conversion formula... and at present i m not in a positions to go to my university and get something done in this regard... So i wrote to both IIM-A and IIM-B... asking that if i just send my GPA certificate showing the 4 years consoldated perfomance... (in my case it happens to be above way above 8... on a scale of 10) ... alongwith the Provisional Certificate... will it be fine... IIM-A replied back saying it will be fine... But IIM-B did not reply back... I took IIM-A's verdict and mailed my form to IIM-B... now the rumour has it that IIM-B is specifically looking for that % conversion certificate. Now, I am in a great dillemma:neutral: ... i don't knw what to do...??:

One of my friend's father contacted IIM-C, and he was told that actually this certificate is reqd. for the border line cases... (i.e. who have got their gpa in the range of 5-6...)

Can u IIM-B ppl throw some light on this... and if possible can u pls chk with the authorities out there in the college and get our tensions resolved...

Thanks...

With your experience, it is highly unlikely that acads will play any major role. Your selection process should be mostly work centric and abt ur need to do an MBA now. Also, you hqave a decent enuf chance of getting a call at a low percentile but how low, that is uncertain. Probably 98.5+ may fetch you a call, it could go slightly below as well but that is very dicy a ques. i think some consideration is definitely given for your being a work ex guy.

I have a question and it sound weired but about form filling. Under which academic discipline does B.Sc. with math, physics and computer science come under? Under science or under computer science/CA/IT?
Just to be sure, as math and physics are explicitly mentioned under science..
Thnx for effort guys.
