the answer to the problem...
Each of the following number has 2 digits blocked out which of the numbers could be the number of hours in x day where x is an integer?

(A) 25[],[]06
(B)50[],[]26
(C)56[],[]02
(D)62[],[]50
(E)65[],[]20

is (E). anyone who got that right?

first of all, the question seemed pretty confusing to me

you said the answer was E, can you please explain why the answer is E. i don't get the jist of it

Hi friends,
I have got a possible solution to the above problem.
Actually what I could make out of the question in the end is this.
Your are given 5 nos each having 6 digits( of course, each option being one . Probably the comma made u take it as 2 nos. That was what confused me.) Of these the 3rd and 4 th digit are unknown.You have to find which of these could be the no: of hours in 'x' days.
In short which one is divisble by 24; On scanning the last 2 digits of the options u can see that only (E) is divisible by 4 and hence the only possible solution could be (E).

I dont know if this is what the one who put the questions meant.
Any way do send in ur comments

cs99001 : Bang on. Now your explanation makes sense to me. I too was under the impression that it was 2 separate numbers and I was trying to fix up all numbers that would be suitable in both solutions & couldn't come up with the answer.

Now, if it is a single number 6 digit number, your explanation holds well and is right. DAMN that comma
