BITS and WIPRO is a good combo.i think u should go 4 it..and as u say after 4 years u can quit wipro..then u would have an MS degree in hand..and package after that would obviously be good..it might not be so gud in wipro but u could join some not so gud firm coz believe u me ..there the pckge an MS guy would get would be really high..or some top of the line company which offers u a good profile +package..

well just a peice of suggestion...
CAT is the toughest entrance ever...and its really difficult to crack if are looking for IIMs....pls dont mind..this is my experience...
the course wipro is offering u is purely in technical field...and if u r looking for a mgmt career then i suggest u prepare for CAT exclusively.....
wipro do have tie ups with IIMs but thats possible only after u complete ur MS program.....

u need to decide first which career u r longig for MBA or MS....two completely diff.....management and technical.....

analyse ur mind and dreams....and listen to ur innervoice...

wipro & a M.S from bits sounds gr8, but ultimately the choice depends upon what u want..whether u really r gonna enjoy this ms or not..jus' blaze through ur dreams...i'm from pondicherry engg college & am placed in TCS ... (make sure this m.s thing is for sure first!!)

1. In CAT nobody can be too sure coz eventually it all boils down to the two hours on Dday.
2. Right now you are a frog in a well. When you join a big company like wipro you prespective will widen. You will see how a big company fuctions. You will realize what part of business you are interested in (like marketting or hr or finance...). You may even realize that you dont need a MBA at all!
3. What i understand is if you take this job, the option of taking CAT 06/07/08/09..... is always open , but if you miss this opportunity of job you wont get it later.
4. my say, join wipro. coz as it is you seem pretty confused. having a stable join will give you loads of time to think of the main q WHY MBA?

Dude,

One needs to look at it from 2 sides:
1. Where does ur interests lie? Is it in Techical side or Magmt?
2. Though Wipro has tie ups with IIM's the guys who get selected for those courses are ppl who have worked in Wipro for atleast 3 years and also luck counts

Also, its not bad to prepare and it CAT a try this time....it's not as easy as u make it sound!

It is surely CAT, i am assuming that u want to land up in management finally......rit???

I can bet, i given an offer from any of the top 10 b-schools today, u will happily join them..

U shud not even think of anything apart from it.
U r going to enter the final year of ur engg.
Just go for CAT, whole heartedly, giving whole mind and soul to the prep and then coming up to the top.
Those who believe that CAT is a play of 2 hours on d-day........shud never ever go to watch any stage performance........Can they tell why do see So n SO awards????/ even on TV. how do ppl perform in plays????

Well, they prepare to give a flawless performance, and here n there they mit go a bit wrong,but the whole play or dance can never go wrong.....

It u dont prepare well, then even a slightest of the mistakes can make u stumble and fall off the ladder.

So, in short, have faith in urself, and prepare whole hertedly for CAT.
Forget that crap BITS degree........Yes, it is crap, in the form it is being offered by a company.No value addition. no knowledge gained. wastage of resources. (Nothing against the institute.)

Wipro might have made a big deal of the MS from BITS Pilani at their PPT but trust me, almost every software company offers that Pilani MS Program. that program has very few takers.
That program is totally useless, and yes, it is pretty much a correspondance course, and an unnecessary distraction from work. Moreover, that program comes with a few catches.
If you change companies in the middle of the course, even if you move to another company which offers the same BITS Pilani program, you lose all your credits, (you cannot transfer your credits), and if you want to do the course, you have to start again from scratch

One small addition to the above post. It is normally company sponsored. So it maybe a waste of time alright, but not a waste of money.(The rules vary from company to company, so check up from wipro about that)

can answer this part buddy...........i've been recruited by WIPRO in the campus placement and they offered us a starting salary of 2.04 pa ..........i m currently in my final year and will b writing CAT this yr .
